Hi All,

I am trying to create an alt. From being logged in I could not find anywhere to do it so I logged out and tried to create a new account. I got blocked.

Does anyone know how this should be done from my existing account?

Cheers

An alt is just another account, so to set one up you should just be able to go to the SL website and go through the same process you did when you created your first account.

However, you said you tried that and got blocked. What exactly did you try to do? Did the website give you a message or a reason for why you were being blocked?

Unfortunately the page expired but the gist was that policy did not allow users to create more than one account and if I thought it was in error then I should contact support.

The message seemed to imply I was being sneaky :(

I don't know for sure, but it might be because you're still new to SL. Perhaps you should give it a little while and try again, or search through the knowledge base to see if there's anything in there about setting up other accounts.

They know the only reason you are trying to get an alt is to flip first land. Shame on you.

It is interesting that people who know nothing about me make these kinds of insults. To the best of my knowledge the First Land program has not been active since I have been a member.

It was a joke, Chade. Sorry 'bout that. We all know First Land is dead and gone, hence the "humor". I should have put the winking guy at the end of my post.

;) ;) ;)

If it makes you feel any better I once tried to log in and I got an error message telling my I'd been banned and SL could no longer be accessed from my PC

Turns out it was just a mistake on their part, they do it all the time, so don't panik about this at all :)

Are you using the same email address?

Get a free gmail or yahoo account for your alt and then try again.

Be careful, Raymond. My alts may get offended, if they weren't so busy searching for any 1st land. ;)

There was a post about the same problem yesterday. Someone else was unable to create an alt, and so was I personally. Age doesn't seem to have anything to do with it: I am a five months old resident, payment info verified from the start, since recently have a premium account and own land on which I have my business. I tried to create an alt (my first!) and got the same message.

The thing is, some of us actually need an alt. For lack of one I found out only today instead of weeks ago that people can't teleport into the second store I have on my land because of the land settings. That explains the lack of business for the past few weeks, I was about to write off that whole line of products. Sure, using the wrong land settings was my own dumb fault, but at least an alt would have been able to detect the problem...

Ofcourse using different personal info to create an alt is an option, but I actually wanted to do it the honest way, even if that meant having to pay a sign-up fee for the alt. Especially among the premium members there are a lot of business proprietors. In my opinion at least one alt should just be part of the package we pay for, both to be able to get away (take a day of from helping customers and still be able to have fun in SL) and to be able to test our products.

There is another important limitation when someone tries to create an Alt the "honest way". Residents that they don't have or they don't want to use a credit card with LL, but they are verified and paying users through Paypal, they cannot make an Alt the honest way since the only option offered by LL is to pay the $10 for the Alt with a credit card. It happened to me last time I needed to make an Alt for my land group following the recommendations of the SL Help. I hope they have changed the Alt creation procedure now.
