I have lots of land I deeded to a group. I want to get out of SL so how do I get out of the monthly land charges?

Try to let the other land owners know what you are doing in advance so they can drum up more land donations or prepare for a higher tier.

I was told you could buy the land back to yourself is that true?
Or sell it to others, but if you do that the members get cut. |

Depends if he is the owner, or just a member of the group who donated land. In essence, he donated tier, not land if that is the case, so there is nothing to sell.

I think they make this whole thing a bit more confusing than it needs to be. I really have issues with this group land and group money.
On another note, ever set land for sale way under asking price? A friend did as he was getting out of SL and I was going to buy it. Only him and me in the sim and within two seconds there were 4 others suddenly there trying to buy the land, no shit, two seconds. Luckly he took it off the market in time when he realized that he didnt add me as the only buyer. |

How does all this work?
If I have 512 and my Premium partner has 512, if one donates to the other, we can avoid tier? _____________________

Max, if you want the land back so you can sell it to cash out before leaving SL, go to your land, wear your group tag, and set the land for sale for $0L TO YOU ONLY. Never EVER leave it set to Anyone if you're doing a transfer to yourself or another individual. Then buy back the land, and list it for sale at the price of your choice.
You need to sell it back to yourself first before putting it up for public sale, because if you don't, when the land sells, the profits will be split up among everyone in the group who has the liability/credits option enabled. (All owners and officers, by default.) _____________________

How does all this work? If I have 512 and my Premium partner has 512, if one donates to the other, we can avoid tier? You don't pay tier on 512. You still have to pay your subscription fee, though. Grouping won't get you around that. If one of you took the 512 from the other, the one who no longer has land could switch back to a basic account (which means no more stipend), but the one who received the land would automatically bump up to paying the additional tier fees you get with any land over 512m. _____________________

Thank you. That does explain it. For other reasons, we are all premium so that wasn't the goal. I was just trying to understand the economics of renting vs buying.
My partner just rented a spot, we'll see how that works out. Thank you! _____________________
