Missing Classifieds

Did anyone else's classified ads go missing entirely?

Did it just happen now? A whole lot of us had our classifieds go missing 2 or 3 days ago

yeah mine did over the weekend *sighs*

Check previous threads on this same topic, but yes, there have been database glitches that resulted in the removal ads even though marked as auto-renew.

I don't know how long they've been gone Is there hope of a re-appearance? I thought I backed them up, but I can't find where I saved them. Mother of Pearl.

I can't answer definitively, but my guess is not a chance in hell.

Once the ads are marked for deletion, I would presume the record is purged.

I had three classifieds vanish last week. I'd just placed them, then the following day went to check and they were gone. Two days after that, I finaly went to go and rewrite them, and all three had magically returned.

No idea what it all means. Some things in this virtual universe, avatars were not meant to understand.

I purchased ad space (incredibly expensive ad space) on the 19th, and the listing has gone missing. The amount I spent was enough that I'm going to pester LL support a bit about it....

This happens regularly to me. No idea why. Some have suggested it is related to the use of non-alpha characters in the title of your listing. I have two ads. Both have a dash (-) character in them, but only one regularly disappears. This bug is frustrating because it has been around for months and has still not be addressed (kinda like the water bug, yada yada ...)

Save yourself some time and frustration: Once you get your ads recreated, copy the text from each and paste it into the notes tab on your profile. This way, the next time they disappear, all you have to do is copy and paste the text back - and grab the picture from your inventory.

I am in the habit of checking to make sure my classifieds are still around - every single morning before work. It's a pain, but one day of lost sales is a lot to me.

Linden Lab, please fix this!

Twice my auto renew classified failed to renew since christmass. Grrr....

Bump, had this happen to me today. My account shows the system taking the auto-renew fee, but I have no ad. >_<

My classified ad for my main store renewed itself today, and then vanished from my profile. I haven't checked yet to see if the ad itself is still up, or if I got charged over L$1K for nothing. My other two ads are still in my profile. They have a different renew cycle, due to the big ad having vanished and been replaced once before this. Just the spendy one vanished.

On 3/1/2007 I was billed L$1001 for the renewal of my classified ad for Ceera's Creations, on the Isle of Nepenthe. The ad does not exist, and was purged from my profile. I did NOT cancel or purge the ad. I have been charged for services that were not rendered. I have written to support demanding a refund.

OK, now I am furiously angry. Now MY OTHER TWO ADS ARE GONE!

They were there yesterday, and were set to auto-renew. I wasn't charged this time, but both ads have vanished from in-world, and my Profile now shows no ads at all!

*sigh* start rowing, we're in the same boat, this is the second time my classifieds have poofed on me. How annoying to see that one minute they're there and the next minute they're gone. I will, however, take the suggestion to cut and paste prior to pulling every strand of hair out of my head which I am dangerously close to doing

I also had an ad go poof on me for no apparent reason. I keep them all on auto-renew and always leave the appropriate Linden amount in to cover them, so it's a Scooby-Do Mystery.

Anyway, I wrote to Support about it, and also asked that they have someone make a blog post. Hopefully that (and a solution) will be forthcoming.

I have e-mailed support. I have called the suupport 800 number, was told there was a 5 min wait, and after 15 min on hold was dumped to their voicemail. Apparently no one was available to bother giving customer support, despite my calling at the start of their work day. I left a voicemail ticket, which I strongly suspect will never be acted upon.

In this blog post LL admits there was a problem, and that they are processing refunds on the ads that were charged and deleted instead of charged and run, over the last 7 days. I did get a refund for the expensive ad that they deleted and charged me for. Thank you, Lindens!

However, this glitch wiped my retail presence completely from the classified ad system! All three of my ads are gone now, and even though I know they should help bring me business, I am rather reluctant to place new ads, when the system is so buggy. If I do, I guess I will have to check my ads daily, to make sure they are still there. *sigh*

I finally received a very vague response by email from support:

"There are several things that may have happened here. The payment
information may have been placed in wrong, the search engine may have
been down and therefore your ad was there, or a different keyword was
needed to find your ad. Yet another possibility is the ad did not meet
your community standards and was deleted without notice. Please read

I don't mean to be a smart-ass, but gee, that doesn't really sort anything out at all, does it?

My advert for my store went poof.

Frankly, I won't be renewing it. There is a "club" in my sim which regularly causes it to be filled to capacity, preventing me and my customers from entering. Under those circumstances, it isn't really worth renewing.

Mine went poof too. Again. Linden Lab refunded me, and I placed it back. Hopefully it will stick... this time...
