Hi,
Im very new to all this and I'm having real problems getting started on SL. I created a name / account logge in and everything seemed to load up ok. I can see trees and land and water and a couple of people standing static (editting their appearance or just standing there) and I'm also able to pan the camera around and zoom out and in.
But I can't see my own character / avatar and i can't move around the world. Am I supposed to see the world in the 1st or 3rd person and whay can't I move around. It doesnt feel intuitive like a normal 1st or 3rd person online game would.
Have I done something wrong in the set-up, please advise?
regards, Broxi

Broxi! Hope it gets smoother for you. There are some basic things like making sure you meet the System Requirements: http://secondlife.com/corporate/sysreqs.phpAnd you've also pressed F1 for F1 Help inworld, right? And tried the stuff in there? If you're all good there... I'm going to move your post to Resident Answers for further help. Feel free to keep posting.

Do the left and right arrow keys work at all, while up and down have no effect?
Do you have a "minimap" in the upper right hand corner of your screen? If so, what color is it and does it change color after a few minutes?
Do you have two small bars in the upper right hand corner of your window? What color are they?

Yes you are supposed to see yourself in 3rd person view. You should be looking at your avatar's backside. Pressing the 'M' key should take you in an out of 1st person view.
I'm not sure what's happening to you. Maybe if you could describe it more. And play with the graphics detail in preferences too.
