Ok, Im planning to make some rather tall avatars (6 metres +) and am in a bit of a quandry about what to do on my body height. Is there a way to make ur body taller than the standard 3 (or so) metres?

From memory, I made my avatar like 7' tall, mainly because I used to get neck ache looking up at all the tall guys/gals in SL, I used 100% in the legs, torso, and other height related settings. I think, setting 100% in a certain way, doesn't automatically readjust the other settings to 'balance' them back to less than 100%.

Hello Heffa, 6 metres + huh? I think I read that the Ivory Tower of Prims have a section whatever on avatar creation. Alternatively you could grab some of the freebie avatars at Yadni's or other freebie place and investigate their construction. Many are simply near-normal avatars with suits on but some have large limbs etc which might be informative.

I believe you need an AO that lifts your avatar up to a certain height in all the animations - then build the prims around the AV.

Thanks for the feedback guys :D

I've gone thru Ivory Tower. They do have some good av suggestions, but nothing on bodies (at least not that I could find).

I was wondering about it mainly after seeing stuff like the Rancor av in Furious Star Wars range, and the AT-ST av on SL Exchange. After seeing these in action it seems that they just do what Colette mentiond; raising the body up into the torso and attaching the unarticulated leg modules to the feet.

The idea Im trying to grab is doing a Transformer or Battlemech av at scale height, and still being able to articulate the knees and feet.

Guess its probably a bit beyond the limitations :P

The best you can get is to articulate the hips, shoulders, and neck, by that ao which raises your av up a few metres in the air.

I've got a free copy of a mega AO in the Avatar Toolbox freebie at my main store.
