I'm not trying to start a flame war, this is a real question.
I've noticed some people with an entourage of 10-20 bots hanging around. I could easily imagine this becoming much more widespread and commercialized, having your own body guard, circus clown squad, screaming fans, etc.
However, wouldn't this also have the effect of increasing the number of people in-world significantly? People who bought such products would be using the resources of say 10 AV's rather than one. For example only 4 such groups could be on most sims at once.
I suppose this could become yet another griefing weapon, locking everyone else out of a sim by bringing your own personal flash mob.

Seriously? What do they do, sit around in the club and form a protective circle around their "celebrity"? Great concept for people with delusions of being rich and famous. I can think of a shopping benefit - take your entourage around to those mob vendor thingies and watch the prices go down. With open source, just about anything is possible. I think it would take a good deal of processing power on the user end though to have all those AVs running at the same time, if they were loading graphics etc.

Well, a bot to follow you around wouldn't need to render any graphics. You'd might need a fat pipe for all the data, but the bots would basically be processing text.

Bots count for traffic, land owners pay campers for traffic, now if land owners start using bots they could have traffic for free. Removing traffic would drop the number of citizen logged (as many camp chairs during the night) so would put LL in trouble because from 30k online it could drop to 20k at us hours and 10k or less at euro hours.
Though if many places owners gets 10 bots to boost their traffic, we could reach 100k online pretty soon, hence more lag, more sim crashes, more server hickups, more no payment, search or teleport available, more real people leaving SL.
It's Charybdis and Sylla.
