First Land Question

Hello folks, newbie here. I was curious about the first land option, but when I go to the land tab, select first land as a filter and did a search, there was nothing listed for sale.

Is there a time/cycle when new first land options become available or am I missing something here. Perhaps, not searching correctly? ie. I did notice I had the L$ < 1250(?) checked so I unchecked it, but still nothing.

Doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong Kat. Welcome to SL

Searching on 512 can widen the search but really just need to keep trying. It sells quick!
I'd recommend not spending too much time browsing when it appears. It's usually snapped up within the hour!
Within minutes of my buying I was offered the next plot for 3000L! Within the hour it had changed hands twice and was for sale at 6000L!
Grab some, grab it quick .. and wait Try some building. Try to meet the neighbours, start a neighbourhood.

Right now there is a sever land shortage and land prices are rising fast, so the only answer to to check often and be ready to grab.

There is a new scam that has people signing up for a premium account, buying first land and selling it again making a profit and transferring the money to their primary account that is making first land even less available.

So keep your eyes open do a search often and be ready to move quick!

I had a feeling that may have been the case when I was unable to find any. That's just based on my experiences with other online games.

It's always really bugged me how features that are implemented with good intentions for true newbs can be scammed into a profit for the "mature" players.

Another hint as I just bought my first land recently (yes after a year). Keep an eye out for Guy Linden to be online. If he's on most likely he is handling first land or auction land. Don't bother him just use that as a reason to search. ^_^

I'm glad to have found this post. As a new SL resident and new premium account user, I too couldn't find first land. I've been searching for the past five days, quite often only to be discouraged by "none found" that shows up.

So I did a search here and found the answer. So I will keep on trying, but it's hard not to purchase other land, but then I wouldn't be allowed First Land, so I am waiting....

Yes, I too have been looking for first land. Being relatively new to Sl I was very surprised and very dissapointed at the scarcity of First land available. Very frustrating. I hope LL put more available in the future!

I gave up and just bought land at full price.

Hmm, that's not very encouraging. It reminds me of SWG as a newb. I was unable to afford the prices for the gear I needed at my level.

Of course, the difference here is I can purchase addtional L$ I guess, but I was not wanting to do that. Wanted to "make it" on my own so to say.

I must say I walked around quite frustrated at not being able to aquire First Land myself. But with a little persistence and some good friends I am now a happy land owner. I wish someone had told me about alts and buying land in advance though. I sure would have rather liked to 1024 instead of 512 and 234 Prims instead of 117.
It is out there. It happens. I was able to find First Land in about 2 months time. It was around SL evening when it came available in land search.
