Anyone gotten a unsolicited "Deagle .50 Prototype" object given by "Random Object Orb" owned "an unknown user"?

I'm probably being a bit overly suspicious.

Take it to a Hotbox and open it there.
What? You don't have a hotbox you say. Nonsense.

...."Random Object Orb"?

Sounds like one of those prizeballs a club would use.

Most give L$, but there are some places that give out freebies. It would likely be safe to at least rez it and see exactly what it is before deciding to keep it or not.

From the sound fo the item name, though, I think it's a gun of some variety.

Yes but a name can be anything you like...

I picked up a copy of a deagle at YadNi's a few weeks ago so it probably is that unless some one has renamed something else to sound like it.....

If you are not sure of it, take it to a sandbox, preferrably a Linden sandbox.

Preferrably Newcomb, the No-Scripts Sandbox.

Please bring it to that sandbox... and duck when you open it. If the user is an unknown.. well, that is a concern and might be a renamed object.
