Can anyone help?
I have always used the various camping chairs with no problems. Just recently though . I have been at a camping area where , really there is nothing to do but sit in a chair!! and come back to the pc to find I have been "logged out for inactivity"!
If I dont sit in the chair I dont earn anything and if I do I am logged out!!???

most camping chairs now have anti idlers and certainly the client menu hack is now unavailable.

I think essnetially the rule is now if you camp..... you camp , i.e you have to leave that window open or else you are thrown out of SL.

In a way its good as it stops the campbots and the folk who make SL Camping a living IRL.

Thanks for the help . Yes I think that may be the difference
I have not been leaving the window open whilst doing other things !
Will try that one today. The sites I go to have a limit anyway so it is not an all day all night thing!
Anyway thanks again

I'm not getting logged off for inactivity, hold down ctrl alt and the letter d to get the client menu up, you will see it next to the help menu. then go to character/character tests and turn of go away when idle. If that doesn't work you can get anti idle balls that you wear for free inworld or on SLX.

sorry but the client menu thing doesnt work any more ..... if you close the window you AUTOMATICALLY go to away even with the client menu disabled. Ive sat and watched this with an alt on my parcelthe SECOND i reduce that window.. note it can be the window not in focus ... but just NOT minimised.

right. if you minimize, you will go AFK and be logged off when the timeout expires. you can wear 100 anti-idlers, it will still happen.

thanks.

Search on the forums. There's lots of threads about the Nicholaz viewer. It is more stable than official viewer and solves several problems (including the AFK issue).

Note: My response to this thread in no way implies support for AFK camping.

You guys do realize it costs more money in electricity to run yer compy while camping than it does to just buy Lindens, right? LOL

Aimee, I get the impression from the number of posters intimating they are multi-tasking that they aren't actually just running SL. If therefore they have SL 'in background' it would be quite desirable to dip back in every now and then and mebbe just make a few lindens in the meantime?

I like to have my main acocunt open on my main screen (22";) and have my second account open for permissions checking etc along with my TV card and the net/ photoshop etc. on the second.

BUT the reason i like to minimise is becasue the SL client is SO crap it runs out of 2 gig after a while and minimising it releases the ram back for use.

I DID use the nik viewer untill the 18 release and waited for the latest from nik ... now its out i will go and get it,

Marty

Not always so, depending on where you live. It's been discussed at length in several threads.

Check the comments on 18c. I am using 18b with no problems, but there might be memory leak issues with 18c.

sorry but i dont find this to be true

i went a 10 days with no computer activity because i was in the hospital the computer was not on at all durring those days

my elec bill was no different then when my computer is on 12 hours+ a day every day

ive recently acquired 2 laptops for my kids to use and they are on it alot playing/emailing/homework and i often use them to look things up while im in another game...elec bill did NOT go up so i just dont see that running your puter all night to camp would run your elec bill up

BUT i dont agree with camping it takes resources from others and causes lag and even more issues on mainland

but there are people that wont invest rl $ into a environment like sl at least not at first

since i first started sl ive found ways to be self sufficient ..ive never used camping chairs but i have gone to events, worked, even gambled and always won enough $L to shop and ahve fun i only recently bought $L but that was to buy land because i was impatient and im horrible at saving up the ammount of $L i needed for the land lol
