Hi,
Being a new resident, I just bought a 512 plot of land.
I'm having a problem though, and no matter what I try I can't figure-out why my land details state that there is 'one' more object than there actually is. I've even gone to the extreme of lowering the land as far as it'll go and deleting all objects - but still no luck. In the land details it also states that the object is "Sat Upon", but I know for a fact, this isn't true.
I'm otherwise learning SL easily enough, but I'm at a loss with this problem - any ideas?

It's a symptom of several possible known issues. The only way to clear the trouble is to submit a support ticket, explain the situation, and ask that they restart the region. The rogue prim should be gone after the restart. From: Harman Homewood Hi, Being a new resident, I just bought a 512 plot of land. Either someone is messing with your head, or you need to see if you can get a region restart. Without more information, I couldn't tell you if that is due to a bug.
Did you try returning all the objects? Do you bounce into the prim, even though it isn't there? Does the prim list an owner in the About Land?
*shrugs* Either way, you stand a pretty good chance of requiring a region restart. Either go to region down or try the solution finder in the Support Portal. Don't use the search thingy on the left, click on the button on the right that says, Solution Finder.
Hope that helps!

Yes, I've tried everything; including click-dragging the entire parcel to highlight possible 'invisible' prims. When I first bought the land yesterday, the first thing I did was to return all 'Non-Owned' objects to the creator. This worked perfectly, and at the time, my land details stated "0 Objects".
Since then I've been doing a little build practice, and that's when the problem started. Anyway, I'll try this 'Region Down' option and see what happens. It probably does need a restart, because I've also noticed that the land texture hardly ever loads to full resolution.
Thankyou both.

We have a similar problem on our land; 101 'ghost prims' that show up as "owned by someone else", but not listed as having an owner.
We submitted a region restart request on Saturday, and we're still waiting.
Thankfully, it's in a place that isn't right in the middle of things, so we've just made a hole in the ground and put some roadworks cones/lights around it so it at least has a reason for existance.

From: Raudf Fox Either go to region down... Where is this option? From: Broccoli Curry We submitted a region restart request on Saturday, and we're still waiting. I'll keep you posted on how long I have to wait.

Isn't Region Down for reporting when a region is down, not when you want a region restarted?

I own the 0,0,0 corner in Salerio region, and have seen the results of this "ghost prim" problem first hand. Basically the items count as prims on the parcel where they were rezzed, but are only visible at the 0,0,0 corner of the region (which I can see because the ground level there is 0). The objects become strange and buggy when this happens. For one item, with three people standing in the same place looking at it, two could see it and one couldn't. At times when I couldn't see the object, flying to the original parcel and back again to 0,0,0 resulted in the object becoming visible to me. And later when a Linden came out, he could kind of see it, but only as a flicker when he moved his camera. Trying to deal with it on our own was impossible. I found a trick here in the forums to actually see the item info: right-click -> edit, re-select item, right-click -> edit AGAIN, and info now shows. Unfortunately that did not allow any actual editing. The right-click menu offers me the option to delete or return, but the request is refused if I try. In the end the only way was to get a Linden out to restart the region. I originally submitted a support ticket, and a few hours later used the "solution finder" to navigate to a point where I could initiate a live chat... and got to the support person right as they had opened my support ticket (which weirded him out a little!). Anyway, he came right out, restarted the region, and all was better. I don't know if the ghosted item ever returned to its owner (sad, as it was no-copy), but it no longer counts against their prim allotment. Looks like a recurring problem though... just yesterday I saw part of someone's house there. Not sure what is causing the sim to develop the 0,0,0 bug repeatedly. The Linden support guy said the 0,0,0 bug was rare these days, but I keep hearing about the ghost prim problem a lot. It all sounds like my problem, but people don't recognize it because they can't actually see the 0,0,0 point in their region (either due to a high ground level, or they don't know to look there). I'll try searching JIRA for this, but if anyone already knows of any relevant JIRA numbers, please share.

I helped somebody with this last week and he did manage to get rid of the stuff at 0,0,0 without needing a sim restart. It wasn't somebody I know and I've long since forgotten his name so I can't ask how he did it. I think he might have been trying to edit/move it a bit off of the 0,0,0 mark. Also, there are things at 0,0,0 in my home sim that have been there for over 6 months. A restart may clear some of the issues people are seeing but it won't fix all of them...

It wasn't somebody I know and I've long since forgotten his name so I can't ask how he did it. I think he might have been trying to edit/move it a bit off of the 0,0,0 mark. We tried that, but no dice. The item owner, her landlord (parcel owner), and I all gave each other build and item mod permissions, and yet none of us could budge these things a millimeter. From: someone Also, there are things at 0,0,0 in my home sim that have been there for over 6 months. A restart may clear some of the issues people are seeing but it won't fix all of them... Oooo, that's weird, like there are two different 0,0,0 bugs? Can other people see the persistent ones in your sim, or just you? (Don't smack me for asking the obvious, but you've cleared your cache, right?) To answer Alt's question: In my case, I believe the normal system restarts (Wednesdays and various rolling restarts) will also work. Hopefully that's true... I don't think waiting a few days to free the prim allotment is a problem, and it saves me (and LL) the trouble of getting a Linden out to do it on demand.

From: Ava Glasgow Oooo, that's weird, like there are two different 0,0,0 bugs? I suspect that things at 0,0,0 is a symptom, not a bug. It may be that some cases allow the prim to be removed/returned/edited by the owner and some don't. IIRC, the guy I helped last week had problems with it at first but then managed to get rid of it.. From: Ava Glasgow Can other people see the persistent ones in your sim, or just you? (Don't smack me for asking the obvious, but you've cleared your cache, right?) Don't know - I'll ask around if anybody else can see them. They've persisted through many, many cache clears.. It's really been +6 months..

My <0,0,0> is haunted. The sim seems to randomly target avatars who port into the welcome area and mirror their actions at <0,0,0>. Several times I've cammed down there to see ghosted avatars shopping, walking, copulating- even though I knew the real avatars were in different parts of the sim.
I keep looking down there because sometimes, from my other island, I see this beach house that appears to be rezzed at <0,0,0> on the first isle (its roof just pokes out of the ocean)- but whenever I get too close it disappears.

I have to add I had the "sat upon" prim problem once, too....then suddenly a part of my house disappeared, which seemed to have been the prim nobody actually sat upon (it was a part of the wall and I hadn't been editing that AT ALL). I took the whole house back to my inventory and rezzed it again, and then it was okay.

yes, I drop by my local 0,0,0 every time I loose something while rezzing. I've found stuff there you couldn't imagine. Furniture, cars, pieces of houses, and once I found a whole avatar sitting in the nude with a prim (male chicken)... Yes, I took pictures...LOL

Turning off the ground rendering can be a help too! With the ground out of the way you can see if anything has rolled into the corner....
You do this with Ctrl+Alt+Shift+5
to turn it off or back on. The ground disappears and you can look at what's below.

Finally got on to live chat yesterday, and got profuse apologies that our two previous requests hadn't been dealt with.
The chat operator said she'd reset the region; I noticed the blue popup on the SL screen immediately, so I flew over the border into Hector, waited for the region to go off, and back up ... and all was perfect.
Took all of about 2 minutes (plus the 5 minute reset) to do - when you got to a real person, yet my requests had been waiting for 2 days. Live chat was excellent, the ticket system didn't seem to work.
I guess we'll be going to live chat rather than submitting tickets next time we need a reset.
