Are there any plans to have voice help available for new users?

Some folks might appreciate being able to talk with someone about why everything's so slow and how to walk and all that new user stuff.

since they are adding it - then definitely would be nice if someone was there to greet them with voice.

If all the SL mentors are non - voicers might send the wrong message lol.

Good question. Do the Help Islands and Orientation Islands count as mainland?

Actually, given Pathfinder's support for the feature, and his understanding of its power as a tool for education, I can't imagine that Voice would NOT be part of the orientation process.

I think it would be awesome to engage a Linden in voice chat while in a Help Request session. Not only would it make the session more personable and less drone-like, but audibly hearing the thank yous from satisfied people who needed help may make the Lindens feel happy about their work. We're not all out to get you and complain Linden Labs, lol.

I do my fair share of complaining, though I personally would be more inclined to be civil and think about what I am saying to an actual person. I dont know whether that is the most common case, but I suspect it is.

And Lindens actually hearing a thank you probably would be a boost I would think.

Has anyone here actually spent a lot of time in Help Islands LOL... as a SL greeter I do and can suffer the waves of new users all typing questions over and over, the griefers etc.. how do you think it's going to help having them shout obsenities into your ears in spacal sound going to help? and what about those that cant' fathom out how to turn it on in the first place, contending with typing instructions into chat to get them to join in?

I do use 'gestures' to give out reoccuring information, that helps, but then been accused of spamming chat.

Just because the ears receive spacal stereo, the bit in the middle is still mono, I'd end up doing what I do now when using Skype, typing out what I am either hearing or saying, whilst I am talking to someone. Come on, I am only a guy.

LL won't even pay for, or install a translator on Help Islands, you think they are going to add voice for free?
