There's a 7Seas vendor somewhere that is shouting contests into my home on the mainland 24/7. I've found 2 in the area and both neighbors and I have determined that it isn't theirs. I can't find any others and this green spamming in my home is really starting to annoy me.
What is the shout range in SL? Any tips on how I can track down this spam machine? Scripts that would detect it, etc?
Thanks Friend Bluebird

shout range is 96 meters. you should see the name of the thing when it shouts, then you simply use an objects canner hud or the object finder in emerald.

"object finder in Emerald"...this is a new one to me, Lance. How do I use it? There have been times I REALLY want to find a specific object, rather than just all the objects with a given owner.

it's in the emerald menu... what's it called again, object list or somesuch. you enter a partial name / creator name / owner name / description and hit "search", then you get a list of matches around you (no idea what the effective range of the thing is though). then you click on an entry and that sets the "map beacon" to it.
I've been using that in shops to great effect... like "there was this jacket called so-and-so on this or that blog but where in this two sim sized shop is it..."

In emerald, and maybe snowglobe, I thought you could just click on the object name in chat and get the location of the object. No?

From: Void Singer slight correction... shout range is 100m from prim center Can't say I blame the confusion of shout range being 100 meter in stead of 96 meter, afterall scan range (in script not viewer radar) is 96 meter.

That's OK, you don't need that feature this time, it has another that will do the job. Open the chat history and you'll notice that object names are highlighted as blue links. When the machine spams you, click and you should get a popup window with the object's location etc.

The link took me to a user profile (not sure if it is the owner's or the creator's) and I IMed him to please set it for his parcel only. Unfortunately, it looks like this person is oriental, so I'm not sure if my message will be understood; we'll see. He might speak better english than I! However, I didn't see anything relating to the 7Seas object like its location, etc. that you spoke of?

Later tonight I will toss you a little scripted object that can do the job. ETA: sent, send an IM in world if any trouble or you still can't find the thing, I do get offlines.

It sometimes takes awhile as the objects need to load first. To test it, searh for a common name near you, like 'object'. Be aware if your draw distance is set to less than shout distance it will not find it at all.

From: Friend Bluebird Yes, thank you. I had tried this already. The link took me to a user profile ... I believe that means the object is an attachment that that person is wearing. Copy/paste the spam back into chat at him and say "please stop!!" Most people will know enough english to get the idea.

You can also try asking on the 7Seas forums if you haven't already, http://www.7seasfishing.com/forum/. The creators/organizers read it daily and may have other ways of finding or stopping it.
