Name suddenly unavailable

Ok, I tried to create an alt today but I had to stop in the middle of the process. I later tried to enter everything in again at the first page, and all of a sudden it says the name is unavailable! Is there anyway to fix this mistake?

once you try to create a name, that name becomes taken.
if the process doesn't work out and you have to start over, that name is now already used.

I lost a name that way myself, and had to put in an extra R (Strawbearry Shortbread).
I wonder . . . do you suppose they count these aborted attempts in their numbers of residents registered?

There IS a way to recover that name!
You have to manage to put in a support ticket, using the "Tried to create an account and failed" option, which anyone can enter. Tell them that you were interrupted partway through creating a new alt, and what the name of the alt was. They will send an e-maiil to the address you specified when you started filling out the form (or to your main account if you hadn't gotten that far. It will have a link in it that allows you, and only you, to proceed.

Aparrently I managed to receive a confirmation email saying that my account was created. Keep in mind that I had only done this earlier today, when the specific page I left off at was still in my browser's history, so I'm pretty sure it went through. Thanks everyone for your quick replies. =)
