Invisible Object - help needed

I allowed someone to rez a building on my land. After 5 minutes it went invisible. You can walk up to it and then stop.

I have tried to Autoreturn it - but to no avail.

It is showing as 78 prims, selected/sat upon - so I can't return it to the owner.

How do I get rid of an invisible object?

Get on Live Chat and ask for a region restart, if you aren't concierge level. Go to the Support Portal and use the Solution Finder, not the search feature on the left. Eventually, you'll be able to chat with someone if you click the stupid, "My answer is not here" enough.

The 0,0,0 bug strikes again!

Just for fun, you might check the 0,0,0 point in your region to see if the house is hiding there. You probably won't be able to do anything with it (aside from the restart Raudf mentioned) but it's amusing to see the junk pile of ghost prims that accumulates there. Note: you might need to hide the "surface patch" using the client menu if the ground altitude is higher than 1-2 meters.

Is that what that is?

I had a ship I removed a couple of weeks ago and when I went to put something else in it's place I kept bumping into something untill I figured out it was a 'Ghost Ship'.
I have property on the other end of the sim too and when I went there a day later, noticed it totally borked against the edge of the sim underwater.

Well the end to that predicament came about like this.

After seeing it there, I tried to return it, delete it, nothing seemed to work.
I even moved parts of it deeper onto my land to see if I could then return objects.
My partner and I were just hovering around and I was wondering what else I could do
when at some point we both ended up crashing.
When we returned the borkage was gone and the origional spot it was located in was then clear.

True Story.

Guess it just needed an excorcism. :D

I could reveal the sim but we're selling about 9,000m+ and don't need any bad press. ;)

Sorry 3Ring, but it happens all over the place. It's not obvious in a lot of places because 0,0,0 is hidden deep underground, but hiding the surface patch (in the Client menu, I think under Rendering) can reveal them it if it's not too far down.

I will admit, though, it does seem certain regions are more prone to it. I'm not sure if it's the sim itself, or if it's caused by something bad in it. Personally I like to blame it on the ridiculous overusage of large non-phantom megaprims, but I don't really have any reason to believe that... just being a grump. ;)

I'd posted this work-around elsewhere but it got buried:

I had a similar problem up in the air (skybox -> pool tubes still there, but invisible).

Right click anything and edit (or use build) just to get that window up.

Left-click around the object that is there but well... actually not there, but eating prims.

Drag the mouse button until there's a square around the object.

There it is, in all it's previously invisible, unclickable glory

Right click it and delete or take or whatever.

Just remember anything in that highlighted square is going to be deleted, taken, whatever also. Look in the appropriate folders.. I re-rezzed them (along with everything else in the path of the highlight box) and once I took things one at a time and deleted what I wanted to, it was all a-ok

Sorry if this isn't terribly clear, I'm still waking up :)

You know what - I tried that, I created a 1 prim object and "slid it" next to the invisible object. Got the old-edit thingy box up and dragged a square around the darned invisible "pain-in-the-a$$" object and guess what? It is so foo-kin invisible it didn't get highlighted.

So I have now built a Blue Box 20m x 10m around it, made it 80% transparent and when it decided to rear its ugly head, it will now become a boxed-display like in a museum.

I will now put on a clear plastic bag on my head (with holes of course in it) and anyone can see my angry museum-display face ;)

Wow that sucks

Mine worked so well I not only deleted the invisible-but-there pool tubes, but the plants, trees, marina and part of the dock that was on land also (anything in its path)

Plastic bags are not a toy

I could build a little showcase window for you. Granted, that would only work if said showcase window didn't go invisible but there on me, causing me to use click/drag/delete thereby wiping out everything in its path again...

Sorry it didn't work :(

ETA: Did you bug report it? I did with mine (and a second to tell them about the work-around. I attempted to get to the JIRA to add it there but I couldn't log in there. Handy dandy

What happens here is that the world system software registers that it's deleted; but the physics engine doesn't. So, yes, a lot of the time, a restart is needed.

Crash sim at your own risk.
