I guess this is where I could post this, but

I was wondering how come if SL is based around aspects of real life.. how come there are no jobs (or barely any) that are of the food industry? (I get it that people don't need to eat in SL but food is a major source of economy? D: )

Forgive me if it's a stupid question but it's been bugging me a while D:

Well...because like you said...Avatar's don't need to eat. Granted, there are still a few restaurants here and there, but from what I've seen they tend to be those romantic couple's type of places. The kind you'd take that special someone on a date. Not a huge demand for fast food and the like in SL I'd wager.

pubs and clubs often have a buffet - can be fun to 'hang around' brandishing a vol au vont and a glass of champers!
There are some burger stalls and such, one by the planetarium in Midnight City for instance.

Actually, being a hobbit, food is something very close to my heart .. often!

I do see it displayed as I say, in buffets but there isn't really a lot you can do with it. People could make up busy looking kitchens with it displayed but then, unless it's something made specifically for presentation, does it augment or detract?
In SL it's decorative rather than functional ..... sad really :(

edit: further thought, since some drinks have scripts with them with drinking movements and staggering/falling over - how about cream cakes that leave jam and cream smears around the mouth? heh heh
