Why does my land not show in the serch?

Does anyone knows the ins-and outs of the Search???

I have several plots of land and usually advertise them by having the land show in Search (the blue house).

As far as I know Search searches in the description line so that is where I put the keywords to search for.
It happened a couple of times to me that theland show up in the search for just a few words from that line, and does NOT show up for the rest of the words.

For example, I now put the word Zyngo in the description line but when searching for Zyngo it does not show the land !!!!!!

I really would like to understand why that is.

Has it to do with traffic or so? Allthough I thought traffic only determines the ranking but not if your listing will be showed or not .....

Did you check the "show in places" box?

Do you have "show mature" checked in your search page?

My random guess, based not on any specific knowledge, but upon general knowledge of how Second Life works, is that the Search function doesn't work the way it's supposed to.

I had a similar problem with finding my shop when I first started listing myself. One thing I noticed is that search doesn't work like a real search engine...as in if you type in "hat" it will only bring up that word on it's own and not "hats" or "that" or "tophat" etc.

Double-check that no words are bunched together or are spelled slightly differently. If that's not it then search in SL might just suck!

Nothing new here, nothing works in sl.

You find so many things that don't work the way they're suppose to. The only thing that you can be sure will work each and every time is you're banking account being hit by Linden every month.

This never fails, unfortunately we can't say the same for the game.

Check About Land - Options for the 'show in search places' checkbox. This costs $L 30 per week. Check the 'mature content' box if you have mature item(s) on your land.

Make sure your description on the general tab has all key words listed separately. If you do something like:

hats, coats, walking sticks

you won't come up under hat hats coat or coats, but you will under walking or sticks. It appears to view the comma as part of the word and no longer sees hat and hats as the same thing (full word search only to help with lag issues in search).

With Pando Square Mall, I now advise all my tenants to give me listings of key words with no commas or separators at all and if possible to use both singular and plural of the most important items.

Also, if they are Kay's Boutique, I will try to work in Kay and Kays just in case someone knows that part and only puts in Kay or leaves out the apostrophe.

Do you get *any* matches on zyngo?

/me wonders if this is a filtered word...

Thanks for the answers so far but it looks like I did all ok:
- I did click the box to display the listing (L$30/week)
- I have no spaces in the description line where the keywords are
- I do get a lot of hits when searching for Zyngo

Strange is that the place DO show up when I type some other keywords in the description line, but not for 'Zyngo' which is the most important lol

Sorry, I meant I have no comma's between the keywords, just spaces, so that is OK.

The blue house simply means that the land is set as your home.

Did not make any error with this.

I have now added the word 'Wyld' to the description line.
It does show up now for the searches 'Zyngo Wyld' and 'Wyld' butstill not for just 'Zyngo'.

and what kind of client do you use ??

blue house is the land-listings, hard to explain lol, but all the land-listings show in the search with a blue house in front of it ....

Are you looking through all the pages? The search results only show 100 at a time. There should be a button at the bottom of the results to go to the next page. I'm guessing there's more than 100 zyngo places in SL. There's a chance that it could be caps specific, but I haven't tested that. Hopefully capitilization wouldn't matter, but with SL search, you have to test every possibility.

Well, searching for Zyngo in 'All' gives a list of 329 hits but not the possibility to walk through pages, so I assume all 329 are lsited. Did not count them lol.

Well, it seems nobody really has an answer to it !!!!
