Ok, I'm a Mac user - please don't tell me that that is the problem lol. BEFORE today's unscheduled downtime I had the same problems as everyone else - can't tp etc.

AFTER we came back online today:-

If I am at Orientation Island (busy, very busy) I crash at very regular intervals, like clockwork almost. So does my alt.

But if I am at a low traffic location, I (and the alt) can stay there indefinitely without crashing.

So what have Linden Labs implemented this evening that has caused this problem?

Any other Mac users having the same problem?

I would suggest posting in the Mac forum (down near the bottom of the list of SL Forums on the first forums page), and in the Macintosh Users group in-world. Some pretty knowledgeable people around.

My Mac thinks SL is a Microsoft product with all the bugs and crashes and whatnot, but is totally unaffected by it - as far as I can tell.

I use a MacBook Pro. I am crashing far more often then I did before the last week or so. When I tp to ahern (crowded with avs) I crash at least half the time.

I have a brand new iMac. Starting with the last software upgrade, I started hard crashing on regular basis. And it got worse over the last weekend and continues this week. I now crash every few minutes, then it settles down and runs for 40 minutes... and starts a crash cycle again.

The UI started flickering this weekend also... disappears for a 1/2 second and re-appears.

I also have flickering textures now all the time. Its like a bad acid trip....

I have everything set the way the Mac wiki suggests. It seems to be getting worse... not better.
