I've been reading the threads on the proposed age verification, and noone seems to pick up on what I think is the most important sentence in the whole of the Blog entry:
"Landowners are morally and legally responsible for the content displayed and the behavior taking place on their land."
I suspect it is no coincidence that this is happening so soon after the discussion about casinos and gambling laws. The LL lawyers have, probably correctly, alerted LL to the possibility that they could be taken to court because an avatar is doing something illegal in SL, and taken to court over some pretty serious shit to boot.
This is how LL makes individuals in SL responsible for their own actions, rather than hiding behind anonymity thinking they can get away with anything.
Am I concerned about giving up secure information? Hell yes.
Do I want to lose everything I've invested in SL because they get taken down due to some people having used it to spread child porn because it's getting a lot harder to do this by other means now? Hell no.
Whether we like it or not we live in a bad world, sometimes we have to make compromises.
Discuss.

Your land is set as mature but non-adult, two non-verified avies decide to engage in adult activity when you're not around. Even if you don't have an array of sex beds available, they can still cyber/voice or walk around naked and "primmed" or simply play animations without needing pose-balls.
As the landowner you are responsible for the behaviour that takes place on your land and it's rather vague in specifying whether that means only your own behaviour or the behaviour of anyone that happens to be on your land.
If it's the first someone can get away with "I don't engage in adult activity on my land, but if others choose to use pose-balls when I'm not around, well, that's not my fault, is it?" providing a handy loophole to keep free sex places in existance on non-adult land.
The same scenario can be thought up using a poker table: "yes, I like to use that to play with friends, but if people use it to gamble when I'm not around, oh well, I can't be expected to police that, right?"
If it's the second you're liable for everything that happens on your land, whether you personally condone it or not and whether you had any part in it or not. It wouldn't hold up in a RL court, but anything in-world LL has full control over.

Anyone have a script that detects avatars not wearing clothing so I can auto-boot the naked noobs that wander into my PG-rated store when I'm not around??
