Hi,
I recently bought some plants that were modifiable, consisting of 3 prims. Moving the plants were no problem, but when I tried to reduce their size to fit in my window box, only the root prim changed size, not the other two linked prims. I had to click the Edit Linked Parts box, select each of the 3 prims separately, then I could resize each one in turn, and of course I had to do the maths to see what the new sizes should be, as each prim was not the same size to start with.
I thought this was strange, and sure enough when I had some free time I created 3 prims, all different shapes and sizes, linked them, and then when I did a stretch they all stretched together. So why don't the 3 linked prims in the plant all stretch together?
Any ideas?

That happens if you try to resize 'by the numbers', by editing the fields in the building tools. If you set the edit tools to resize, and drag the white handles, you should be able to resize the whole thing.
You'll come to a limit though when the smallest prim reaches 0.010 in any dimension. Then you would need to edit linked parts and increase prim thicknesses, to allow you to drag-shrink it farther.

Hi Ceera, No I didn't try to resize by numbers. I selected Stretch (and the Stretch Both Sides box ticked) and the white handles appear, but when I grab one and pull it or push, only the root prim changed size, not the other two. The size is not a problem, as the three prims had (square) sizes of 5.514m, 5.152m, and 4.843m. By going down the Edit Linked Parts route I was able to reduce the prim sizes to 4m, 3.737m and 3.51m, maintaining their aspect ratio, and this I did by numbers, as the white handle method did not work on this linked set. Just can't figure out why.

That is really odd. I just finished re-sizing some prim hair in-world on my lunch break, and did it just fine by grabbing the white handles and dragging. It would have ruined the hair completely if it didn't all change at once.
Are you sure you didn't have "Edit Linked Parts" checked? That can screw things up.

Although the plant may have had sizable measurements in two dimensions, I'd guess that the thickness of the foliage prims might have been getting down to the lower limits.

Diva, you got it! It was the thickness! The prims were like 5.914, 0.01, 5.914, and so on. It is the 0.01 lower limit that was the restricting factor. So, still, there is nothing I can do. I have to edit each prim by hand, as I have been doing. Checking all the other plants I have bought I have found that the thickness of 0.01 is the standard (at least from the Heart Garden Centre), so resizing by handles is possible in the expand direction only, not in the shrink direction. That can only be done manually. Thanks for the helpful suggestions from everyone. Rock
