I have many people in SL that I care greatly for - would do just about anything to help them out - but have absolutely no way of contacting them outside of SL. And this is mostly because I respect their right to privacy, their right to keep SL and RL separate.

If you were in a long term relationship would you not at least give them an email not like that will give away personal info. I was in a relationship in Sl for over 2 yrs and he and i knew how iffy SL can be so we opened yahoo accounts that had only each other on it for those times when one of use was not able to access SL. I would of hated for something to have happened and not been able to get in touch

I have both Yahoo and Hotmail for Marianne. It's easy and a polite way to let people I am involved with know that RL is in the way so I can't log in. I would never use my RL name to keep in touch with SL friends.

I use an email for Hal BUT never my real name. Real names belong on passports and credit cards and parents' tongues. Nowhere else.

I had trust with my partner he had my name address and phone number I had nothing to hide from him.

I dont even give my real bfs my totally personal mobile number and only an address I can control in terms of who uses it.

Yes, I would -- but they might not reciprocate and that is fine with me -- so there might still be no way for me to contact them to let them know that I cannot get inworld. Additionally, the email address that I give is not one that I check constantly like I do with my main RL email. Therefore they could send me some message about not being able to get inworld for a long period of time and it could be an entire day before I saw it.

I have used Zonkster in the past to send messages, but what I have found is that the message is not always noticed right away and could easily get lost in the chat scroll if the person is, for some reason, getting lots of chat at the time.

I have, with a couple of people, done the same. However, I make it a point not to judge or make assumptions about another's situation, so again, they might not reciprocate and give me any info at all.
