Hello Everyone,
I hope someone is able to help me out with this, as I'm banging my head against the wall...
I've taken up the idea to get some more land. Currently I owe 512m2 which was all deeded to a group (effectively 466, leaving me with 46 optional m2). And the same a friend did.
However, now we're thinking of getting a new plot at a better location, so planning to sell it all (that's not the problem).
What the problem is, however, is to determine how much land we can get for the group without passing a certain tier. For my friend it means the $0 barrier (so nothing beyond the 512), and for me I want to stick at the $8/month tier, adding 1024 on top of the 512 which a premium is allowed to have.
Am I right in my calculations to say that when we buy land, and directly deeding it to the group, we can purchase a total of 2432 m2 of land, and therefore leaving us with 0 m2 in *reserve*?
I came to this by seeing that I donated 466 and having 46 available (and my friend too), but the group owns1024.
So would my guess be that I could get 512+46 = 558 (and my friend too) and when this gets deeded to the group it would give the group 1116 m2 and for us no increase in tier?
Hence, getting 1536+3*46 (for me, with $8/month) + 558 (for friend with just premium and no additional costs) would yield 2432 m2 to be bought for us together and then yield to group.
It's for me (as English is not my first language) a bit unclear how it works.
Basically my question is, how much land can we buy for an $8/month and a $0/month land tier account in total when it is all deeded to the group and leaving us with no room for buying additional m2.
Thus not like the situation now: bought 512, donated 512, but got discount on group, so effectively donated 466 and still can buy 46m2 which is nowhere to get and unusable.
Thanks in advance

Your sums are wrong: 1536+3*46 (for me, with $8/month) + 558 come to 2232sqm
Anyway. the rule with groups is that you get an extra 10%. So donotate 466 and you get 466 + 46 (=512) sqm, donate 512, and you get 512 + 51 (= 563)sqm
So if you donate 1536 and your friend donates 512 - the total donated is 2048. You then get an extra 204sqm so the total will be 2252sqm

But.. then it shows we only donated 466 each, leaving each of us with 46 of m2 to be unusable. That is what I want to prevent. I'd like to know how. Basically: I want to buy as much land as I can get, assuming it all gets deeded leaving me with 0 leftovers (like that 46m that is totally unusable)

When yoiu deeded land to the group you obviously made the land contribution along with it. because of the 10% group bonus the system just took 466 sq out of your land allocation. If you deed all you have (the remaining 46 sq), this allows the group to own that amount of land in addition, plus an additional 10% of this. The easy solution: Contribute all your land to the group and take it from there.

you could always buy 3 ad farm plots, that'd come up to 46

I see it's not just me who has trouble understanding it all... Let me rephrase I'm going to switch to USD8/month, my friends stays at 0. Hence, I can get 1536 m2 , my friend will have 512 still. This totals to 2048. When this is deeded to a group, the groupland will be 2048, which is including the 10% bonus, leaving us BOTH with again a remaining piece that we cannot use. We do NOT want that remainder. So someone explain to me, how much we can actually take to have 0m2 available for our respective tiers and maximize the groupland m2.
PS: To my understanding this means my friend should be able to buy 46 m2 extra, and for me that would be 3x46 = 138m2, making a total to buy of 2048 + 46 + 138 = 2232m2?

I need to know exactly how much more I can buy, without getting out of tier and have 0 land allocation available personally. PS: You cannot contribute land to the group (ie, the 46m!) if you dont owe it !!!

What Ricky said.....
In SL open your group info window, and in the "$ and land" tab you can change how much you contribute to the group... next to it it tells you what the maximum you can contribute is, change the value in the box to that value and your friend do the same, then all your tier has been contributed to the group not just the tier needed for your group owned land.
You will then see that the group will have the extra and when you buy land you 'buy for group' from the "About Land" segment of the pie not the "Buy Land" segment....
It sounds like so far the contributions to the groups have only come from deeding land along with it?

I think I understand it now If my freind buys 512+51 (563m2) and deed it then it would be fine Same for me with 1536 + 153 = 1689 brings us to a total of 1689+563 = 2252m2 Correct? And then neither one of us would be paying more for the land tiers.

Don't know why tho.

From: Marcuw Schnook brings us to a total of 1689+563 = 2252m2 There's one more litte "gotcha". The smallest piece of land in SL is 16m² (4x4) so while you have 2252m² of tier, only 2240m² is actually usable (round down to the nearest 16 multiple).

Ok So that means even less m2 then I thought, as I think that minimum then also applies to tiers. 563 = 560 (multiple of 16) for my friend and 1689 = 1680 for me totalling 2240 m2
