Greetings everyone. Little by little I am learning SL. A few things that confuse me still........
What is the difference between flexi and prim hair? Looks only?
While shopping for shoes, I see sizes mentioned. Does this make a difference and how would you know which size?
Can anyone recommend a good female AO overide?
Thanks!!

Thanks!! Flexi hair "moves" like real hair where as prim hair is more stationary on shoes most womens are set to zero unless otherwise stated by vendor or maker mens are normally set to 20 im using an amythest collar with the animations put into it but unpop is ok or you may want to shop around. contact me in world and i can give You a few landmarks to some places that can help you . and Welcome to SL

But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

From: Maia Beltran What is the difference between flexi and prim hair? Looks only? Remember to always try the demo before buying hair . Flexi hair can actually come in two different types as well. One is where almost the entire hair style is flexi, the other where it's really non-flexi hair with little twists of flexi added in (my preference ) From: someone While shopping for shoes, I see sizes mentioned. Does this make a difference and how would you know which size? Right click on yourself, and pick "Appearance", then click on "Shape", then "Legs", scroll down all the way to the bottom and you can adjust your shoe size there (actually called "Foot Size" . From: someone Can anyone recommend a good female AO overide? An AO is actually nothing more than a script (and most of those are free). Of course, it needs animations to actually do anything useful, which is what you do pay for. You can either buy a pre-packaged full AO set (script + animations), or buy single animations for different poses and then put it all together yourself. The first is obviously the easiest, but the second isn't actually quite as scary as it sounds, but it does take some trial and error (and preferably someone to help you with it ). Reverie Virtual Systems (search places for Reverie, it's the second one to come up) is pretty good for either single animations or a pre-made set.

Reverie's AO set is the one I use, too... it's sexy without being too over-the-top. It's always a good idea to try out several though, shop around and see which one you like best. As for AO objects, rather than animations, I'd recommend the ZHAO override; it's attached as a HUD on your screen, so it doesn't take up an attachment point that you might want to use for other things, it has a button to turn it on and off so you don't need to bother with voice commands, and it's totally free. (Check YadNi's Junkyard for it, it's easy to use.) I keep a second copy of my usual shape for use with prim shoes-- it's the same shape, only with the feet set at 0 with the sliders. I don't like having tiny feet all the time, so it comes in handy to do it that way. Have fun, and welcome!

Thanks!! Welcome to SL! The flexi/prim hair has been pretty well covered. Absolutely try the demos first. You'll find that there are many different ways to do flexi...some have more movement than others (some natural, some not so natural) so shop around until you find one that you like. I prefer the more natural, gentle flexi..but it's all about personal style. Most prim shoes come with a shoe form which will give your feet the proper size in order to fit the shoes. When you purchase the shoes, you'll see an object with a shoe icon next to it. Wear those first, then put the prim shoes on and you should fit them perfectly. I'll IM you inworld and give you a landmark for free flexi hair and outfits with shoes. That will give you an idea of what is available. AO's are tough. I went through about 8 before I found one I liked. I have DNA by Lost Dog designs. It's an actual animation that transitions from one pose to another naturally and not just jerking from one pose to the other like some do. Happy shopping! ~Ari

Let me just throw in a shameless plug for my favorite flex hair, the "trans" hair from Pazazz, specifically the "Uptown" style.
The trans hair allows you to wear the style up or down, simply by left-clicking your head, it even has a cute little anim to show you either putting the hair up or letting it down. The Uptown style has fantastic volume and texture in the down position. Just my $L0.02, and welcome to SL!

One thing not covered about flexi hair is that it really hammers your framerate (and anyone else in the room with you). A single set of full flexi hair can drop th frame rate by 5fps or more... So definately consider the ones that only have like 4-5 flexis in them instead of 50-60 like some have. Not only will everyone else appretiate it but you will also not have to suffer from the permanent loss of frame rate as you look at yourself...
