Hello,

i have a question about Group land which was probably asked 1000 times till now, but i can't find proper answer.

A friend donated some land to group to be used by my frieds and me. Everything is working fine, but a problem is that that friend decided to leave SL. If he leaves, what will happen with that land? Will i be allowed to continue to use it or it will vanish together with his account?
If it wanishes, ho can i take over that land to own it by myself and donate to a group?

Thanks,

Gorana

This is an answer to Group Land by Gorana Kolache; please link.

If the land is actually DONATED TO the group, ie, is OWNED BY the group, not just SET to the group, all you need to do is make sure that someone donates enough tier to cover the land, and the land will survive the termination of the friend`s account.

If, on the other hand, the land is only SET to the group, then the ownership will revert to Govener Linden when the friend`s account is terminated.

Gorana, land not paid for is reclaimed by the Lindens. In a case of group land, yes, if contributions aren't upkept, your *whole* group land can be lost. You will usually get a few days's warning first so that you, or someone else can cover the contributions. So yes, you could potentially "take over" the land if you found yourself in such a situation.

If your friend simply doesn't visit SL but continues to pay for his account (some people on extended vacations do that), then you can continue to use the group land, no worries.

The place to see this info is right-click on yourself, Groups, select a group, then in Group Information > Land & L$ tab.

Merged these -- thank you for the important addition, Llauren. To clarify, when I said "group land" I specifically mean "group-OWNED" land.

I'll move this to Resident Answers; you guys may like to discuss this further!
