...folder by folder, piece by piece. I have submitted a ticket, checked Know Issues (where I found no mention of inventory problems)

Is anyone else experiencing this?! This represents a lot of time AND some money loss, and honestly makes me just want to shut it down.

I know this happens fairly frequently to others and I consider it THE most serious issue in SL (second to the child porn issue raised below).

Is this happening to any of you right now?

aarrrrggghh,

try this, clear cache, reboot computer, then log back inworld.
if that does not work, do a clean reinstall of game, reboot computer.

There is a JIRA issue on this...actually there are several inventory-related JIRA issues. You can vote for the ones that concern you.

And I agree...disappearing inventory is a serious problem. Sort of a memory leak made visible.

I hate to rain on the parade of hope, but in regards to Maggie's response, I've done all that multiple times, and nothing has reappeared as of yet. I've submitted ticket upon ticket, and gotten no reponse yet. I'm missing upwards of 30k of items, and am steamed beyond belief.

Not sure when, or even IF, they're going to bring about a fix to this one. I guess my best advice is not to purchase anything you're not willing to lose.

true while one fix may work for one(it helped me) it may not work for another.

Appreciate your suggestions Maggie.., I tried them but it didn't work in this instance. :-(

What I'm really upset about, though is not necessarily things that I bought, but things that I built. I have lost some bought items, but more important, I lost the entire folder dedicated to the shop I'm in the process of opening, and while I do have things rezzed on the land that I can reclaim, there were still many UN-rezzed things that I will have to remember and do all over.

Most sinister. I had another folder in my inventory where I was storing copies of things I didn't want to lose, and some of THOSE things disappeared.

I'm thinking about creating another account just to save some stuff in...what do you think?

I wonder...how do the folks, like Julia Hathor, et al. , who spend HUGE amounts of time building, guard themselves against massive loss?
AND, how are the RL corporations who are venturing into SL dealing with this?

and how is this going to affect Al Franken?

...existential questions.

I'm all verklempt.

I make guns in SL, I had my ENTIRE Textures folder cleared (all my organized folders are there, none of the contents of any of those.) and THREE of my projects are gone.

I am missing upwards of 3000L worth of poseballs after my poseball folder got cleared,
and I'm missing twice that in clothes that have vanished.

I'm pissed, what's being done to fix this? =|

I have a set of storage prims in my home that I made to look like antique dressers. Any and all copyable items I buy get put (still boxed if possible) into these. Some I have to unpack first then put copies into another properly labeled prim then the prim goes into the proper storage bin. The use of sub-prims makes organising a lot easier.

Avatars & Clothes, Buildings I made, Buildings I bought, vehicles, Shop stuff, gadgets & textures all have thier own storage prims. I also use this system to keep my texture inventory under control. I keep several thousand specialty textures in the prims and only take them out when I need them.

Put your objects into a clearly labeled prim then put those prims into another "storage" prim. It doesn't fix inventory loss but for any copyable items it will at least give you a handy backup. And you can put thousands of items into a single prim. I use an ungrouped 7 prim "dresser" for easier sorting. And I actually occasionaly make a full copy of it just as a back up to my back up lol, can you say paranoid much? Anyone who's lost entire folders can say it's always worth the effort. Especially when your talking hundreds of USD tied up in buildings & textures.

wow sounds like that inventory bug is back with a vengence! im sorry it didnt work Dagmar, You can make a list of the items missing, and send t along to LL, it may take a while but, eventually they will reappear, right after you build the replacements.

again make a detailed list of all your missing items and file a bug report. LL is usually very good at looking into the missin inventory bug.

I hate to say this, but I've had things disappear out of storage prims too... :(

Yes, especially boxes within boxes that are storage prims will disappear.

Make an alt. (I have two.) Make friends with them and give them build permissions and vice versa. Give them everything you've made, and give them what you are working on at frequent intervals.

(Reminds me, I need to give them what I'm working on now.)
