If there is a RL company interested to build an SL portal existence on a new island, how should you charge them?

our project cost should include, island price, building fee (payments to builders), initial tier fee and monthly maintenence fee. right?

island price has been standard - $1675 USD
building fee (how should we charge to build?) - $??USD
monthly maintenence fee - 100USD (is it okay?)
Tier fee - Standard $195USD

what else do i miss?

advice and suggestion pls!
Thank you, all the pros...!!

Personally, I would have them buy the island direct, and I wouldn't front the money or be responsible for the maintenance. I'd only tell them how to order their sim and what it will cost to maintain, and let them worry about those bills. (FYI - it's $295 per month maintenance on a new private island sim)

As for what I would charge for the build itself? That depends entirely on what they want built! A custom-terraformed island and palm trees is completely different from an urban build with 10,000 prims worth of complex structures built to order.

I'd charge the way I charge in "RL" as a freelance programmer: US$100/hr with an hour estimate but no guarantee.

But then...my contracts tend to not come from SL because of that pricing...because everyone still thinks SL is a game.

It's not really clear from your message... are you

a) The company wanting to have something built in SL, or

b) Been approached by someone to build something in SL?

If it's (a), best bet is to check the developers directory for companies that do this work.

If it's (b), it sounds a bit ambitious if you're asking basic questions like that. Have you done anything like this before?

I know a number of people who come to SL with great intentions then realise they have no skills whatsoever and get in a right old state.
