I have all About Land > Options deselected and, yet, a neighbor has a grief-like structure hovering over my land and theirs. Is this a tech issue or something you live with? Born confused (in RL) and it's only getting worse Most common advice is return it to their inventory if you can, and complain to the Lindens in the quickest way currently available if you can't. There are some counter-griefing measures, but I think the Lindens are the way to go first and foremost. Can people who know far more about this than me help out? Sounds like this guy needs help against a griefer mentality. |

if the root object on a linked object is more then 50% on the owners land you can not return the object. if its a single prim, if the center is over there land also you can not return it. so a 10x10x10 that is on the corner and 5x on your land, you cant do much about cept ask them to move it or ask a linden to remove it for ya
it can be hard to get rid of these 'intrusions' without help from a linden _____________________

Unfortunately, if the house is linked into a single object with its "center" over your neighbors land, SL considers it on his land, even though it is encroaching onto yours, and you won't be able to return it. The usual best course of action is to NICELY ask your neighbor to move the structure wholly onto his/her land. Most of the time they will comply, but if it is someone trying to be a jerk on purpose, your only options are to wait them out until they get bored and move or you have to move yourself. This sort of thing is considered a dispute between residents and LL won't get involved.

If asking nicely doesn't work...
05-01-2007 14:51
If you've asked nicely, and they've refused to move the house, you can make the house unusable. Just create a large prim block the size of the part of the house that's over your property, and place it in the house. I would suggest that you keep the prim entirely over your land, not encroaching they're property in any way, and also suggest not doing this until the owner had a chance to respond to you. You could even texture the block with a sign asking the owner to remove they're house from your land.
But most people will move their stuff when you ask. |

What's the point of the About Land > Options
05-01-2007 15:02
Your time and advice are greatly appreciated. It seems I've had nothing but grief since joining SL; from being "worked" out of $50 US (cheated out of promised credit), to being shoved; yelled at; purchased bad scripts, tech issues, and on and on. Now, I have to deal with someone that doesn't deserve to be in SL.
I'm curious what the ABOUT LAND > OPTIONS > ALLOW OTHER RESIDENTS TO function serves if they allow an object on your property (albeit, less than 50%) when all are deselected? If I build a building underneath....and then taller than the offending structure, will it push it out of the way? |

cant push it out of the way...

you'll just go through it. Thats a parcel encroachment, a violation of treaty. Id be writing em up. Cant imagine LL not backing you up on this. Keep filing reports on this 'grief-like' structure till they bail you out.

Set your land to Autoreturn in 1 min. All the offending foreign prims will be returned to your neighbor, unless they are linked to a prim on his/her land. Also, this will prevent anyone else littering your land. BTW, if you have a friend's prim on your land and want them there, then create a group and set the land to group (do not deed to group) and have your friend's prims set to be shared with group. This will prevent them from been autoreturned.

Another option if you're interested.
Turn on the borders of your land. (it's in one of the drop dwn menus) Make a wall that i sjust inside your border line, and then send it up to the height that the neighbors build is going over your land. The newly built wall will slice right through your neighbors build and will give you a nice little patio in the sky. ![]() Don't forget to invite your neighbor over to enjoy the new patio that you have made. hehe |

Well, I just asked the gentleman as nicely as I could, complete with compliments on his build. But, considering the large floating rotating obscene porn he now has created, I suspect this is going to be a challenge.

The person has now build a larger structure onto my property and has nearly overtaken my adjacent property. Also, it appears he's taking on multiple identities; land one name; part of the structure another name, and a third name.
I've always been very nice and polite to this person. It's beyond me why he's acting like this but I know he's been griefing others around here. I just saw him and tried to CHAT but he poofed away. |

SL is full of jerks.
Report this to the Lindens, and do so repeatedly if necessary. They will do something about it. coco _____________________

Why isn't there a trigger whenever something crosses into another parcel? Objects have dimensions and size so can't SL tell when it crosses a property line and prevent it? It seems straightforward to me but is there a reason it doesn't work that way?

Third time around
05-16-2007 12:28
Well, the person has put another house partially onto my property and a large chunk of it is on my neighbor's property. This is the third time, or more, that I've asked him to move his build. Usually, he moves it and then puts another in a slightly different place, still on my property. This time, several days have elapsed and he's not moved his build.
I filed an Abuse Report (I think that was the name) a few days ago and I've not had any reply. In fact, I've never received a reply to any Report I've filed. Is that normal? |

Or, place a lot of annoying noise making prims, such as the banana phone in "your" half of the structure. They'll remove it shortly. |

You could move your house up to just below the clouds, say about 100 m above ground, and fly to it to enjoy it. Nicer view and perhaps a bit less lag!
If you don;t want to fly, get a couple of teleporters. |

And if they dont, you could get a particle script that causes mass lag, and makes it so they can't see in their house. (I did this once, only I said "could you please move the item that you have over to the side a bit? It is getting on my land. Thanks." (They were offline) I get a response 2 days later saying "%&^* no! ^@#$ you!"... they deleted it... _____________________

If you are a nice person, you have to learn how to defend yourself in SL cause of people like your neighbor. Please call the support line and leave a voicemail; do this every day with the location of your parcel and the name of your neighbor. Eventually LL will do something; they have a lot of handle and it will take time.
Do an abuse report every day as well and also send in an email to support; cut and paste what you said these forums so you won' leave anything out. Get every neighbor you can to do the same thing. Nice people have rights too and you have to make sure to get yours. Don't let one loser affect SL forever for you. You have tried to talk to your neighbor so don't bother anymore; they just aren't that kind of person..its the Lindens you need to communicate with. |

I have the same problem. Still...
![]() here is the story and replays (/327/68/184012/1.html#post1510222 ) maybe it will clear things more (reporting , reporting, reporting) What is wrong? - I feel left alone with my problems. By Lindens. I am new in the game. Very new but I could write and do some stuff to annoy my neighbour. But what for? I am here not for doing such things. I hope Second Life is not about war. ... I hope... . (if lindens would still be so slow with their help and support in such situations - I would have more negative impact to the game than the age verification. I recommended the game to some people but no more - I would feel responsible in case my friend would be involved in similar situation because he/she trusted me and started to play SL where is no help from game owners/admins) |

Put your neighbour on your ban list, this will also make it harder for them to position structures over your land

You can find lots of images for that on the internet. ![]() |
