land prices in search not reflecting true price?

Lately I've seen a lot of mainland land that in the search panel seems to be offered at low (<=10 L$/m2) prices, but when you actually teleport there, the price is much higher. Is this just because the data in the search is slow to update (what is the interval, then?) or did somebody discover a way to list a different price in the search panel than the real price?

The search function is malfunctioning. By the time you get to the "cheap land", it has already been bought -- likely several hours ago.

The land search listing does not update in real time anymore. Now how some are still finding those plots to flip while the rest of us don't see the listing until much later is the big question.

Automated software was created awhile ago to buy plots of land priced below a certain pricepoint. Furthermore, because of the massive time delay, should someone incorrectly price their lot, there's a high likelihood a neighbour or other nearby resident will get to it before you do.

yes but there were a few new tricks today i found

it was an interesting look see

one guy had marked his land down to a really low price and being the window shopper I am i was going to see if it was the side of a hill or something i landed to find him auctioning his land off as he pulled in like 20 people

another guy is setting up rentals on the mainland similar to the way estate private sims do and selling at 0.1 /meter squared but in actual fact its just an ad to attract you to the land where of course things are different

several tricks like that where land was marked down to 0.1 or 0.5 per sq meter for various strange reasons you land to find a guy doing something odd :P

Thanks for posting that Wilhelm :) I wasn't aware of that. I don't bother checking out cheap land as it is never available by the time I find it anyway. I'm glad to hear there aren't as many people as there initially seemed pricing their land ridiculously low.

This brings up a question I had while looking at land yesterday.

I searched by $L/sqm. The highest things that came up said "rentals", basically L5000 for a 1024 plot. I said "they are nuts", and went to look.

It was a plot that was, when you clicked on about land, something like 4096 selling for over 60k.

My main question is, how the heck did they put those ads in land sales? I thought you had to click the "for sale" box on the land to get those ads to post, which would prevent rentals like this from appearing? Is there another way to post land sales ads that I don't know about?

It's rediculous. You can't find the lowest priced decent land for sale yet again, because of rental ads. I wouldn't rent for that rediculous price, but I bet they scoop up some newbies who think they are getting a good deal.
