What genius changed the "Friends" tab to "Communicate"? Sounds a lot less like the premise this place attracted me to, which was the promise of unprecidented freedom, and more like, well, Communism. Why not just rename the tab to "Comrades" and get it over with?
This has to have started with the whole voice thing, but pulease! Now we can't even have friends? Whoever thought of that, please fire them immediately! They don't get it.

I also find the new interface quite awkward. I can live with it and get used to it if needed, but I fail to see an improvement. One of the golden rules for software developers: never change the very basics of a user interface with an upgrade. Add new functions, but don't change what people got used to.

Guess what? I've been using that interface for 2 months now and still have not "Gotten used to it" is sucks EVERY TIME you use it. LL screwed the you know what on this one and they virtually ignored everyone's input about it over the last 2-3 months. They made one TINY consession and allowed the chat history window to be removed. Friends list remains uselelyy welded to the IM window.
Got more than 5 friends or more than 3 ims at once? Too bad! Well unless you didn't really care for the graphical part of SL to begin with, just open the window larger and it works ok. Can't see around it but at least the window works then.
And of course.. ACTUAL bugs like the edit window remembering it's position and the other numerous UI problems are completely unfixed... What a way to run a company!

I have gotten used to it, which goes to show that not everyone is stuck to the old ways
I do not mind the new interface, just took a little use and knowing I can get used to it and like it

The Communicate button is going to take some getting use.
as for voice, i dont need it to communicate with fellow residents, it's unlikely I will use it anytime soon.

The new interface completely sucks. I like it the old way, as do a lot of other people. I like having my friends list in it's own window. If you look in the First Look section of the forums you will find 3 or 4 different topics about how disgusted people are with it. One of them is started by me. Theres even Jira reports wanting it returned the other way. It looks like LL isn't going to fix it though. So will will probably have to make a 3rd party viewer that fixes this mess...

I dislike change unless it's functional. Which this isn't. A Vertical friends list stuck in a horizontal window that you can only see if you detach the others temporarily till they go right back... Sick! |

Had a quick look and ran back to Nicholaz viewer, at least i can view something then. Just hope he does indeed push out a viewer without all that nonsense spoiling the view.
Not only can i not hear anyone, i can´t even see if there´s anybody out there. Kinda spoils the fun.

For a little while they were starting to gain my support, but then they go and do this. This time even a linden didn't approve of the changes, yet they still carried them out. Now that it's on the standard client i doubt it will be reverting back... :/ |
