Lately I have been getting NUMEROUS complaints from my customers stating that when they open a boxed packaged item from one of my vendors that there is nothing but the notecards and text scripts inside the items. This is not a permissions error (as in me trying to sell something that is no transfer) because everything I sell I personally made myself. The only logical explanation is that there is starting to be a MASSIVE data transfer issue between residents. And this isnt just once in a while for me this is almost every customer. I almost had my last customer file an abuse report against me because when she purchased an item she didnt recieve anything at all. This isnt good at all... And on a side note this is also happening on SLE... http://www.slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=30793#30793Definitely makes we want to stop selling items completely in SL, I really hate comming online to hear an ear load of how people are going to file abuse reports against me because they didnt recieve anything from their purchase. This is my resolution... I am going to take a screenshot of the Box's contents and include it with the purchased item that states... "This is a screenshot of the contents of this box, IF you did not recieve any or are missing some of these items please contact Linden Labs at.. support@lindenlabs.com regarding data transfer errors."

Supporty has been given about this issue stating that.... From: someone We have reports from our Customers pointing out that "Open" gives them nothing. In turn, they are told to use the old fahion Edit/Contents option and manually drag the contents to their Inventory. This is a big issue that like people might need to be aware of.... ya think?

This has not been happening to me every sale or even most sales, but it has been happening to me too. Person opens the box and only sees notecards. Coincidentally, I did in fact make a mistake with one product and was delivering boxes with just notecards (fixed that of course.) However, this complaint was coming from purchasers of other products too.

Things that weren't broke, YOU BROKE EM!

I have certaintly all the faith in the world that WannaPiEcE Crabgrass is a loyal business man. And realize the frustrations we ALL deal with upcoming "updates". But in my days here in SL, i have to wonder why i hear around the streets, "if its not broke, then what they fixin'? Seems the more you try to do "good" the more it screws the lands, and the scripts all up. I sincerely think that Sl is buggy because of the load of ppl that have entered and the incapablility of power of the server. Now thats making ppl who pay for this game suffer, what can you do to resolve the latnecy and the over load? Perhaps everyone should be paying as most of us do, to play this every month. Less leangthy "trial play". Somethings gotta give.....

I don't think I have ever bought a boxed product and have only notecard inside. Maybe this issue is something relatively new. I have on occasion had to wait a few seconds for the contents to fully load. On a few recent occasions this has happened: I was transfering an object with complete permissions into another object with default permissions or all permissions and the item being transfered into the contents tab completely disappeared....even out of my inventory. Sounds like a bug. Also, do you have records of all the customers complaining about this? If it is a transfer item, what is to stop people from taking the contents out of the box and then giving the empty box to a friend. Then this friend could make a claim that their box was empty when they never bought it in the first place. I suppose that is thinking the worst, but just a suggestion for you to consider.

Then this friend could make a claim that their box was empty when they never bought it in the first place. I suppose that is thinking the worst, but just a suggestion for you to consider. This is the biggest issue about this for me personally... Do I give a replacement and end up giving duplicate items to customers becuase I sell items that have to be transferred to be able to be deeded to a group to all of my customers? I mean seriously I dont know what to do... I have had nothing but complaints from custoemers about this happening and what am I to do, give them a replacement right? well I the case of Teddie I gave her a replacement and the box she recieved still didnt have ht efull amount of items in it. I originally had thought that this was an issue with a "RIght click - Open" Bug so I added a script that when the Boxed package rezzes it gives the new owner a Folder to their inventory that is the Prims Contents, well this evidently did not solve the problem. I can assure you that this is not only an issue with me, this is going to be happeinging to alot more people as days go by, and yes, I did file a bug report and so did my customer and I also filed an AR against Linden Labs, because guess what this is abuse to me... I am being treated like its my fault and being AR"d by all of my customers when this isnt my fault. Personally if you ask me... 30k ppl online at once... Their servers could barely handle 20k what happens when 40k ppl online at once comes along... This is purley database error or process prioritizing. ::Edit:: What this boils down to is... I make a box I put 5-10 Items in the Box, I give the box to another user, the other user only recieves 7 out of the 10 items... Anyone notice how when you go to rezz a large primmed object to the ground that you have to hold your cursor over the rezz posistion until SL allows you to rezz it? This is a database load error and is directly correlated with the same exact problem I am having with items just not being transferred...

Yes, having to hold inventory item for ages on the ground before cursor changes from circle with cross to rectangle. Soo sloooow

You are using llGiveInventoryList. You should be aware that it can only give items that are copy. A good give script would have warned you of this.

If the items are set to no-copy for the next owner, but you as the creator have full perms, what happens then? Also, is it just llGiveInventoryList or also llGiveInventory?

From: Johan Durant Wait, I'm confused about this. If the items are set to no-copy for the next owner, but you as the creator have full perms, what happens then? Also, is it just llGiveInventoryList or also llGiveInventory? This restriction only effects it if the permission is in the current owner set of permissions. So as the creator you would have unrestricted use of llGiveInventory* (both functions have the same restriction). The next owner could not use llGiveInventory* on items you set as no-copy.

Ive been having the same issues. Once in awhile a box will sell, but be missing a very important script, or somehow the script gets removed from the internal objects, and get dumped with the root directory of boxed contents.

Out of 22k L$ in sales today I have only had one person say they were missing an items, well hopefully any and all of them would let me know if they did. Also, here is the script that I use to give the next owner a folder instead of using the Right Click- Open... Everyone is welcome to use this and try it theirselves, it helps list gInventoryList; list getInventoryList() { integer i; integer n = llGetInventoryNumber(INVENTORY_ALL); list result = []; for( i = 0; i < n; i++ ) { result += [ llGetInventoryName(INVENTORY_ALL, i) ]; } return result; } default { state_entry() { llSetText("Touch to Unpack",<1,1,1>,1.0); gInventoryList = getInventoryList(); } touch_start( integer n ) { integer i; for( i = 0; i < n; i++ ) { llGiveInventoryList(llDetectedKey(i), llGetObjectName(), gInventoryList ); llSay(0, "You will now find a Folder in your Inventory with the Contents of this package" ; } } changed( integer change ) { if ( change == CHANGED_INVENTORY ) gInventoryList = getInventoryList(); } }

What's to keep someone else from clicking that box and being given the items instead of the purchaser? Say Avie 1 sets down the box and Avie 2 wants to see what's in it? for( i = 0; i < n; i++ ) { llGiveInventoryList(llDetectedKey(i), llGetObjectName(), gInventoryList ); llSay(0, "You will now find a Folder in your Inventory with the Contents of this package"); } }
I "think" you should be filtering the touch for the owner and in that case you need to ensure that llGetOwner() returns the correct info, which you can do by doing a llResetScript() in the changed event. --Ham

I"m stopping to put things in boxes right now on vendors and honestly i check stuff on sl exchange often and am considering removing my stuff for the moment because of this problem I put them in wall displays (this is clothing however so i can do that) and people buy the items from the display so they get no boxes just folders or click the wear now option. I have no idea what I would do if i was selling stuff solely on vendors probably go nuts

Would definately a bit of a sanity check to check for owner, but in the end if the contents aren't resell/give away, it would fail anyway. I would take that script over to scripting tips for some cleanup if I were wannapiece. WannaPiece, next time please use a meaningful subject. We have NO WAY of deciding whether your post is of any interest to us unless you do. I usually ignore posts with unhelpful titles, but right now I'm killing time while waiting for something else.
I have a similar problem. I have items I created. Some of the content (e.g., textures) were created by someone else, but I can give these items away with no trouble. The items are all set to "copy/mod/no-trans" privileges.
I create a box, put the items in the box, set it to sell contents. When I click Buy or Contents, everything is there. When a friend Clicks Buy to see the contents, they're empty. This happens even after a considerable wait.
Any ideas what's going on? Perhaps a related issue, and the workaround mentioned above (selling on walls) isn't guaranteed to work?
Thanks, Jeff

I use the wall prims and have had 2 customers say they didnt recieve all the pieces of clothing in the design. So I guess it doesnt really matter how you are selling your items its all about who the bug will "bug" next.
