I was recently told by another SL resident that she would bump me out of world/location (for accidently walking into her as the world was still rezzing for me).
I'm still fairly new to SL, so I'm wondering if this is true. Can you be bumped out of world/location by someone who does not own the land/location?
I hope I explained this well enough without the proper SL jargon.

She probably means orbited. That is, you can be sent really high in the air, and have to TP somewhere else or log out to get back down. Some send you so high that you become invisible, or distorted, and need to log in again to appear normal. If the area is not push enabled (you can tell from the little icons with a red cross sign over them, on the top grey bar), most orbiters won't work. (And a lot of areas have it disabled.) But there are some that get around that anyway. You could just rez a prim and sit on it, and she won't be able to do anything to you, that's the best protection.

I try to resist the temptation to move while the world is still rezzing. I often get tp-ed by my fiancee and she seems to take longer to rezz than a lot of the scenery. I would invariably walk into her in the first few moments if I tried to move. I'm always ready to snap out a quick 'sorry' if this happens. It's mere courtesy. I get bumped into many times. Sometimes there's a sorry. Sometimes I just say 'ouch!' for the fun of it. If your bump victim felt malicious enough, they could repeatedly walk into you, pushing you in a desired direction. I remember accidently knocking said fiancee off a narrow path at Bliss. She was not amused for some reason

when I TP to a new place, I usually check out my minimap to see if there are any green dots (people) around me .....or in front of me...before I start walking.
Most of the time I like to wait to rez first, but if its in a busy spot, I like to step to the side or backwards to allow more poeple to TP to the same location without "stacking up"

Yes, I forgot to mention this. An excellent point. The mini-map will tell you where people are before they rezz and yes, dangerous to stand still too LOL

You bump someone you say "Excuse Me" and carry on. Anyone who needs to orbit someone over that is wrapped a little too tight for Second Life.

I remember accidently knocking said fiancee off a narrow path at Bliss. She was not amused for some reason I generally don't move when I first TP into a location and normally locations do not take long to rez for me. This incident occurred yesterday (6/12) and SL seemed to be having quite a few issues. I actually didn't move from my TP location. I do believe this person bumped into me (perhaps TP-ed in after me) because I was scooted from my spot, but can't be certain because the location was taking so long to rez. I moved to the side to get out of the way. I didn't know anyone else was there until I began reading the chat. I apologized even though I do not believe I was in the wrong. I thought it was a little absurd that I would be threatend based on an accidental bump (despite who was at fault). Unfortunately, this was my first unpleasant encounter in SL . I do believe this person was being rude and did not indulge her in her catty game. I muted her after she continued to be nasty. Thank you for the information. I feel more informed in what could possibly occur in such a situation.

That's cos he is a CONCEITED LION and has to have everything loaded on him 2) The person who bumps and says sorry usually gets empathy. 3) Shield!

Unfortunately, there are a few overstrung residents who don't seem to clue that you need to move *away* from a tp point so you're not getting jostled and like to yell at people for bumping into them when they just stand there.

You sound like a polite fellow.
Please disregard the occasional deranged resident.
Bumping into someone is not grounds for shoving in Real Life or Second Life.

I also prefer to move off the TP landing point, because it's courteous to do so.I have my minimap set so I can move to a side that doesn't currently hold a green dot.

I don't mind standing in Tp area to erz, it gives all the leapers a soft place to land! LOL No, usually I fly up and hover a bit, seems to help and I also make it known I am rezzing and pls excuse my bumps =)) Its a fact os SL, so these overzealous ppl who want to orbit you for 'bumping' or simply not saying Hello the millisecond you enter thier parcel need to get a real SL life *giggles*

I often have walking issues for some reason so when I am not able to follow my big Sister Catherine with pengiun ride, she often bumps me and pushes me along to desired location. Never became airborne so I assume that is different type of bumping.

I'm also a fan of using the mini-map for navigating, although at medium-zoom I often don't see people right next to me. I move off the landing point because if I don't, I end up with a bimbo sitting on my head. Although I understand some people pay for that.

However, if you were on that person's property, they would be able to freeze/eject you.

people that don't like to be bumped need to buy a multi tool with a movelock..people walking into others is nothing more than the bumper not being rezzed and the bumpeeee being invisible or the bumper holding down on the arrow key in major lag situations..i have only had a couple people that have bumped me on purpose..bumping then backing up and bumping me over and over while i was in move lock ..lol i just stood there giggling and saying if you don't quit that i'm gonna bump you back you lil pew pew head..they proceeded to bump me so i sent them to the next sim then told them if they came back and did it again i would send them on the grid skip of thier sl life and deform them to the point of not being able to read thier name or port out of the terror which would result in a relog wondering if i had destroyed thier avatar or not.well he stopped and was very polite after that and we had a nice conversation about the differences between playstation and sl *giggles*
you have to find the humor in peoples anger to enjoy the moment..
