Can't log in

hi, please please help me. I can't log in. error message: can't communicate to simulator. what am I doing wrong! I want to get in!!! PLEASE! NOW!!!!

After you open the Second Life program, press the preferences button. Click on the general tab and make sure the box is X'ed that says "Show Start Location On Login Screen". Now you should have a section on the login screen that says "Start Location". Type in a different sim name in there besides the one you are trying to log in to. There may be a problem with the sim you are trying to enter. You can also try clearing your cache under preferences, network tab, clear button. Then relog. Log ins have been very slow for me lately since the networking hardware failure at Linden Labs. Keep trying.

You're not doing anything wrong. The grid had been down. You can check grid status at http://secondlife.com/status/, and that should always be the first thing you do when you can't login.

Also, please check other notes before posting new threads, as this is the second one on login problems within a relatively short time.

this is really frustrating!

I just checked that link and it says the grid is offline.

Yet there are 27k or something people on.

But I can't get in.

The blog says nothing.

it says grid is open. still can't log-in. i'm new here. anything else I need to think about or do????

As you will see from the other post about this, I have been having trouble. The grid status shows it open as well as the web site but i cannot log in no matter which location i try. In desperation I loaded First view but it does not recognise my password/name. I think i will just give up. (

Oh my don't give up. Sometimes it is just a rotten day. When this happens to me and I try for hours and hours to get to my baby, I just go away and try again later.

Linden's will eventually come thru and give your life back to you.
