BTW, does anyone know if it's possible to send an email to someone on my friends list from outside SL? I have a firewall at work, so can't access SL, but would like to correspond with my friends during the day. No, I don't intend to spam anyone, in case you're wondering. : ) =Ewan

Yes, for L$25 you can get an Email-2-IM cube from Max Case, then if you enter your friends names and key numbers into a note card in it, it will allow you to send emails to the cube, that then forwards them as IMs to the friend designated in your email "subject" line.
In fact once you have set this up any of your freinds can send email to that cube if you give them the email address and list of names you put into the cube. They can all email an IM to you via the cube also.

There is also the option Edit > Preferences > IM and tick the "Send IM to email" button; this will forward IM's to the email address you have on your account - and then if you reply to that email it goes back into game, to the avatar you got it from.
Sometimes I get them but they end up in 'junk mail' so do check both.
Hope that helps a little!
