So... for those of you that saw the pilot for Caprica last Friday. What did you think?
To keep this relevant to SL... how many plan to use the club from the show as inspiration for an SL club? Maybe there is already an SL club like that. I just thought the idea of different "themed" areas in the club for various interests was neat.

/me tivo'ed it but has not watched it yet.
Bit pissed how they turned BSG into a drama fest. It was cool when it started then turned into just people shouting at each other, crying or freaking out in-general.

From: Vance Adder how many plan to use the club from the show as inspiration for an SL club? I guess that'll be virtually everybody who runs a struggling club, or is thinking of starting up a new one, and who is looking for a new, unique and original idea on which to base it. That means an awful lot of identical, new, unique and original clubs will be springing up.

If I see one more freaking club in this game, I've lost all hope for humanity. Seriously. Second Life could be used for so much more.. but it seems everyone just wants to make some generic club so that everyone can AFK dance on some pose balls and spam gestures that go "OOOOOOOOOOOO!"

sl is already like that club lmao. It is pretty obvious the caprica writers as well as the gamer movie writers are taking ideas from SL.

Seriously. Second Life could be used for so much more.. but it seems everyone just wants to make some generic club so that everyone can AFK dance on some pose balls and spam gestures that go "OOOOOOOOOOOO!" That club represented youth under the age of 18 that had their hands on technology their parents turned a blind eye to. The club was popular because of the Human Sacrifice room, the sex room and the fighting. Not exactly a glowing reccommendation for Second Life (well to high school students it will be). ________________________________ I just watched it (its on hulu.com - http://www.hulu.com/watch/122481/caprica-pilot-part-1). It's pretty good. A teenage girl who died the victim of a suicide bombing transcends the human form and becomes her own religion - after she gets trapped in a robot by mistake.

I've been to a lot of clubs in SL, and none of them were like the one in Caprica.
If you look at 99% of the clubs in SL they typically have one room, a dance floor surrounded by dance poles with strippers, tip jars everywhere. A host. A DJ.
What's the problem with clubs? I'm just thinking people could be a lot more innovative with them. I've yet to find any that really keep my attention.

LOL 99%.. why not just say 100% and be done with it lol Sorry just razzing you..the good clubs you kind of have to dig for since the first few pages of the search is still being manipulated.. We have a dance floor that is nothing special really..just made of deck wood and a stage for the djs..no walls..just a beach and a few stores around us..not flooded with them..but we wanted something people could get for the beaches and dance place.. you can be clothed or nude or whatever..just no sex LOL..and we have no dance poles lol Nakey should be a freedom everyone can enjoy if they like..or not lol so far everyone seems to be loving it..it's a no pressure good time with great Dj's and good people and awsome music.. oh and did i say that you could also get nakey if you wanted or not? LOL

I watched it months ago and again when it finally aired on Syfy. It looks like a good show and I am looking forward to seeing where they go with the characters. As far as the club is concerned.. wasn't that the opera house in the visions on Battlestar Galactica? Looked like the same style to me anyway.
Making a club that looked like that in SL would not be "innovative" in my eyes. A plywood box being used as a club would be innovative for me if they encouraged socializing in open chat rather than allowing the few anti-social people to dominate it with gesture spam and hosts that actually.. hosted.

From: tristan Eliot Making a club that looked like that in SL would not be "innovative" in my eyes. I agree, but... I am more interested in the idea of what goes on at the club more than what it looks like, and no, I'm not talking about having sex and human sacrifices. What I mean is, I like the idea of diversifying the club. Instead of having a big room for dancing that everyone stands in and clicks the Intan, there would actually be several rooms that have unique themes. Sure, add a "fight pit". Maybe have a "mysteries room", where each week you create some kind of 3d puzzle for visitors to collaboratively try to solve. Add an "art room". Hell, I'm all for a "public sex" room too, although isolating yourself to Zindra would cut into your exposure and make certain people avoid your club. The place is all tied together as a club though, and it has things of interest that help enable conversations. When someone gets bored, they can go to a different room.
