Business in a Box?

Hey this is my first day and I bought a business in a box and I was just wondering how to se it up because I have no clue. Thanks

Drag the box out of your inventory, park it on the ground next to you. It may have an unpacker script in it, it may not. Unpacking scripts let you just click the box and it offloads a folder into your inventory. Lets say it doesnt unpack itself, then you need to right click the box and hit the contents tab. This shows you whats inside. If the business in a box is just a bunch of items to sell, drag them into your inventory. Just remember to change the permissions of the items before you go selling em. Business in a box items will have full permissions on, ( so you can sell copies) Otherwise your giving somebody else their own business 'without' a box and they will sell copies and be your direct competition. Lynch, it sounds like you are missing some very basic SL skills. You say it's your first day... did you take the time to go through all the exercises (not just the mandatory ones) on Orientation Island? Help Island is also very useful.

Now that you're on the mainland you can't go back to the current Orientation Island, but there are landmarks to public versions of Help Island and the old Orientation Island in the Library section of your Inventory.

You could simply put the stuff in a box with a pricetag on it and set it on the floor. Or you can pick up a vendor machine somewhere. Some vendors are stand alone units, and some are networked. Then theres always the slexchange, a web based store front that sells your items ( www.slexchange.com). Take some time to research before diving in head first, will save you a headache.

I don`t mean to be negative, but you may want to check if this is one of the "business in a box" that houses many stolen content.

Many are coming into the game and buying these "BIB"s in hopes to make some sales and they don`t realize its content taken illegally from designers and redistributed without their permission.

I know how to open the boxes and what not, I just don't know how to set up a business. The orientation quit working after it got me through a couple of steps so I just have had to ask around and what not for all my problems. Thanks for the replies

Sorry Lynch, it was this statement that gave me the impression you needed to learn basic building and rezzing skills. The basic answer to this question is to open your inventory and locate the object, drag it out onto the ground in your store, then edit the object to move it to the desired position on the wall.

You then need to check the permissions to make them either copy/no-transfer or transfer/no-copy, because if left copy AND transfer, other people can sell them all they want (which is probably already happening because it's a business-in-a-box).

Finally, set the item for sale for the desired price, select 'sell copy' (not 'original'), and select if they buyer should receive the whole box or just the contents of it.

Those last two parts are also managed in the Edit window.

I hope you didn't pay too much for that BIAB. Most of the items in them end up as freebies, eventually. And if the items in yours were stolen, you could face some backlash for reselling them.

It is well worth the time it takes to learn how to create things yourself. You can start with the BIAB items by taking them apart and learning how they are put together, for starters.
