Want to start a community group for purchasing roads

We are trying to preserve the roads (which are for sale) in the sim I am in. Does anyone have any suggestions? What's the most painless way to do this? I have a handful of neighbors that want to participate. Also, will this affect my monthly maintenance fee? I am only 1000 meters away from jumping to the (next) $70 a month tier.

Thanks

One way would be to create a group and have as many of your neighbors as possible contribute what they can in tier to the group, then purchase the land directly for the group. The advantage to this is that you will all get a 10% bonus to your tier donations, but the group will be subject to people leaving and taking their tier with them - risking at least some of the land to abandonment to Gov. Linden.

The approach I have taken in my sim is to construct sidewalks along the edges of my own land, and have had a few neighbors connect to and expand upon the sidewalk network. This has the advantage of keeping the land from being abandoned by others, but does require that we all basically give up a 2m wide strip along the edges of our own properties. In my case, the added traffic from "wanderes" has been worth the sacrifice, and at least one of my neighbors feels the same.

Are these roads that are for sale Linden owned roads? Or are they roads built by a private developer of the sim?

I would be VERY surprised and it would be a fundamental shift in the way LL manages sims if this is Linden owmed land. Locations please?

actualy about a month or two back some land baron seller types were building "roads" in mainland sims to make them look like the bloomfied sims etc. I thought then that this guy is gonna up and sell the roads in a few months time for extra money (prims etc ) and left even though they were very nicely done mainland sims the fact of the matter was it was not an estate with any type of covenant etc only a "look alike" and so the sim owner/renter or whatever (can't remember how he had it set up) would eventually sell them up.

I'm not sure how much you can benefit from this other then buying the road directly in front of your house and keeping it up or something. Eventually it will all be taken down after another couple of months as people move on and out etc.
