Maybe we will forget the forums when it's released?

Replacing the forums by the blogrums is actually a sneak-preview of how LL is using the word "update/upgrade" in 2010.
We loose some features from 1.23 that we all need, but look how shiny!!!! And what's left doesn't really work as well as it should *but* it's "scaleable" and "easy to tweak" and they "outsourced it to a third party who never heard of SL".

The new viewer actually might get me to log in to SL a bit more than I have for the last year or so. It will be something new.
It's a shame this forum won't be around to discuss the new viewer it; I'm sure it would have prompted some interesting discussions.

In keeping with their newfound fanaticism about upgrading the software Linden Lab is using, the new 2.0 client will be written by Microsoft, and LSL will be replaced with Microsoft's Visual C++ running on the .net framework. This way the employees of Linden Lab won't have to do any work on the client at all anymore, they can trust a third party to maintain all that for them.

personally I'm a bit glad it hasn't come out yet... I'm not fond of the interface (of which there are leaked pictures)... hopefully they stuck with xml layout so I can immediately hack it back to the way I like it. there are supposed to be some features that I'll want though, so I'm anxiously awaiting those. last word I heard was February.... but then I heard that last year too....
