Current Inventory issues - affecting other areas?

I realize there is a current inventory issue, and though rather vague in the specifics, I'm curious if other residents are experiencing the same issues as I am. I'll lay out the steps as best I can:

I make an item of clothing in Photoshop (let's call it a strapless top) and, once I acquire the desired look, I upload as "female upper body". It looks precisely as created in the upload preview window.

Once the texture is uploaded (L$10 *cha ching*) I then create the article of clothing and apply the texture.

There is now a difference in the clothing. Either a sheer area above in front, or a missing area below in the back (very slight in size, but very obvious nonetheless).

Before I go spending more cash L$10 at a time on trying to figure out where *I* may have gone wrong, is anyone else experiencing this?

Things to note: I created similar items last night that didn't have that issue, the same self-made template was used, pre-upload each time, I've cleaned what I saw as minor flaws in the preview window.

If this *IS* partially applicable to the "inventory issue" mentioned on the blog, would a Linden kindly expand on it, so that creators aren't spending more L$10 than necessary in the hopes of fixing something that isn't fixable?

Thanks much for any input!

Deandra, are you sure this isn't just an issue with the alpha channel in your images? Are you explicitly creating your alpha channels for each new design?

I bet what you are seeing is like a missing band, up back behind your back where bare skin shows through your design right at the belt line; and then up front it's like the neckline where it goes about your shoulders and neck is miss-matching. Or worse yet, trying to make a tube top and the design/texture goes all crazy just under your armpits where it seems you'll never get stuff to match up. I have been fighting this very same "bug" for a while, but what's more frustrating is the textures themselves. Sometimes once they are applied, the garment goes grey or white, sans texture. The texure itself either gone missing or locked with NO permissions. Needless to say this has cramped my style and some work I promised to others. :(

Re: Alpha - it is no difference whatsoever in design (alpha, layers, production style, etc) than an article of clothing I made last night. In fact, one of the items having issues today is a replica (with a color change) that I uploaded with zero issue last night.

Re: the textures and mis-match, I've experienced a touch of that and just chalked it up to my lack of experience using the templates.

I wonder if a fix is in the works, or if they're (LL) even aware of it. I tend to not bug report on things like that because they have so many other, more intense, grid-affecting issues these days and it might be put on the back burner and forgotten :/

Apologies if I'm stating the obvious, as I don't know how much prior experience you have with clothing design... but - are you basing your clothing on existing items of clothing, or starting from scratch with the plain white "new shirt". If the former, maybe the creator of the clothing that you based your designs on left the sliders in whacky positions - e.g. a low neckline could produce a semi-alpha glitch at the front of the outfit... short length would cut off the texture before it met the waist... etc.

The other thing to watch out for is the fact that .tga files only hold one transparency channel... if you've included more than one alpha channel in your work, then you might not be getting the transparancy map that you thought you'd be getting. That said, transparancy glitches are normally very obvious on the upload preview panel... but it's still something to be aware of.

Thanks for the additional info, Shep!

As for my creations they are all done from scratch. It was the case of a bustier being done on one evening, being perfectly fine, and as soon as the "inventory and search issues" were given mention on the blog, there was suddenly extra material there that I had not drawn in.

Ah well, I suppose it's just one of those things you get accustomed to dealing with. I just hope that it doesn't happen too often. L$10 isn't a lot of cash. Multiply that by 100 or 1000 however..

I guess I'm not saying anything new!

Thanks again for the input, advice, suggestions & happy holidays!!
