Canada billing?

I live in Canada and I wanted to purchase a prepaid mastercard to obtain Lindon. If I do so will I be able to purchase Lindon or does the website only accept USD? Will it automatically convert into USD from Canadian Dollars?

Hi Jessyca! I'm Canadian too, and thought about doing this, but I think the problem is less the conversion into $US, than the fact that they won't accept standard prepaid cards. And I don't think Paypal does either.

But maybe I'm wrong? Perhaps the kind of prepaid card you get makes a difference. I'll be interested to hear other takes on this.

I've been trying to use a prepaid card and have had no success. I keep getting a message that the bank won't authorize the transaction, yet I can turn arond and use the same card for any other online purchase. I've removed all payment info from my account so a prepaid card is the only way I will buy Lindens from now on. If it doesn't work, ces't la vie.

If I was in a conspiracy mood, I'd say that LL won't accept prepaid cards because there is no tangible RL identiy to tie it to, hence no opportunity for data mining and marketing.

I don't think that's conspiracy minded at all: I suspect that it's probably close to dead on. In any case, there was a thread that dealt with this a while ago and, while I can't seem to find it now, I'm almost certain that the conclusion was that the prepaid cards are next to useless for most online transactions, precisely because they are untraceable. It's a major drag, because I will NOT use a standard card online.

My card just accepted I continued to retry and I did it!

They aren't useless online, I use them all the time. I don't have regular credit cards anymore. They just seem to be useless to LL.

Pre-paid credit cards and gift cards can be a bit wonky from what I've heard. Apparently the cards you can associate with rl info seem to work but don't quote me on that.

One thing to keep in mind is that LL is partnered with some new billing company for non-US payment processing and I'm betting that soon you'll be able purchase prepaid cards or something like iTune cards from a brick and mortar store and use them in SL. Just my guess but I can see that coming this year. I'd personally prefer to go that route than leave my CC info on file here.
