Megaprim/Neighbor trouble

I recently bought half a sim, the other half was owned by people that I, and the people in my group, do not know.

The first 2 nights in our new sim were fine. No lag, no trouble, we didn't even see the neighbors. Then on the 3rd night the neighbors came on at the same time we were on, and saw that their neighboring land was now occupied by us. So infront of us, they immediately put up banlines [which we have no problem with at all, it's within their right to protect their property.] But then they started putting up these "megaprims" around their whole property, which lags OUR side of the land very badly. It lags every single person in our group [theres 10 of us] and the lag disappears if we teleport to another sim. But when we go back home, the lag is horrible. We can barely move.

We talked to the neighbors and asked them politely to take down their massive amounts of laggy megaprims, but they refused and told us to go buy another sim then. Basically we think they're trying to annoy us to move so they don't have neighbors anymore, but we bought the sim for a month, we can't move anywhere else atm. And then last night they went and put MORE megaprims up, and it's now basically impossible to move in OUR OWN SIM.

So, is there a way to report them? Can I report them for anything, are they breaking any rules by putting up enough megaprims to slow down the entire grid? I'm not sure what is allowed and what isn't, but this is ridiculous and since talking to them only makes it worse I don't know what else to do. Can someone help me out and point me in the right direction on how to take care of this problem? It may be on their side, but it's affecting US, so I think that warrants at least some action, doesn't it?

Thanks.

Oh, and on some points, the megaprims actually overlap into our sim, but we can't return them because they are "technically" on their sim, just shoved so far over it's into our grid. -_-

If they are lagging you with things then they are lagging themselves as well.

Are you sure its the mega prims? I use them all the time to no ill effect.

If the land is on a private estate or even rented land then speak to the land lord.

Anything encroaching on your land you can AR, although if its a private estate you need to speak to the landlord and not LL.

You say you bought the sim for a month, so assume it's on a private estate. You need to contact the estate owner, or their staff to solve the problems.

Have you also read the covenant? Rules for the estate land should be listed there. Most don't allow ban lines.

I'm guessing maybe the mega prims have HUGE textures on them. I would definitely contact the sim owner, or LL if it's mainland. You have a valid complaint about the parcel encroachment, and if you can get someone out there to look at it maybe they will experience the same lag you are and address that issue too.
Why do people have to do this crap? It happens over and over in SL and it's so childish.

If it overhangs ono your land you can AR it, also LL will remove megaprims that cross sim boundries.

AR them, and report to the estate owner as well.

But there is an immediate solution. Use the Emerald viewer, and derender the offending megaprims.

Oh, and one other thing. I'd send them a notecard:

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Jerk,

We would have been happy to be good neighbors with you, but since you have decided to be Jerks and try to drive us off our land, we've decided to take the following steps.

1. You have been Abuse Reported for misuse of simulator resources and encroachment.
2. We have Muted you. No further communication will be received. We will not hear any of your scripted objects.
3. All members of your group have been banned by name from our parcel.
4. We have de-rendered your entire ugly build in our viewers. To us, none of the things you have put up exist. Our empty sim is once again beautiful and pleasant (see attached picture).

Neither you, nor anything you do on your land, affect us in the least. You are non-persons. Enjoy your Second Life.

Sincerely,
Your Neighbors

Gosh you are nice - I would probably have referred to them as major a**holes.

Firstly, if you've felt able to send a very polite notecard to the neighbours asking if they're aware their prims are overhanging your land and asked if they can remove them, and nothing has been done, then its time for a polite and non-neurotic Abuse Report to be submitted to LL.

Click the "Help" button on the top of your screen and look for "Report Abuse" - the form that comes up on the screen is self-explanatory. Use the category of unfair use of region resources if you believe their objects are making the sim laggy.

In the title say Overhanging prims & something causing massive lag.

In the body of the AR, explain to LL that you believe the neighbors to be slowing down the sim, it started with the appearance of their megaprims and please can someone come and check this out. Leave it at that, don't be too verbose, and a Linden will come out and take a look; private sims or not, LL don't like anything disrupting the overall performance of SL.

LL do not, however, get involved in personal disputes, so its important not to say anything like "my neighbor, the asshole, has done such and such" - just stick to the facts. And let us know how you get on please.

The following only applies to mainland that you own and pay tier directly to LL for; if you are on a private estate, you need to contact the owner of the estate. LL won't interfere with disputes on estates.

Right-click one of the megaprims that hangs over onto your land and select More->More->Report... Select "Land > Encroachment > Objects/Textures" as the category. Make sure your camera has a good view of the offending megaprims before you right-click it, and tick the "include screenshot" checkbox. Put "Megaprim encroaching onto my land" in the summary line, and give a short description of the situation in the bigger "Details" text box. Click the "Report Abuse" button to submit it.

Repeat once a week until it goes away.

So would I. I toned down my example because this is a PG forum

If you want to be REALLY nasty, add,

"When you're ready to sell your land, we'll be happy to buy it at $XXX. Just leave a 1x1x1 prim textured with the words, "WE GIVE UP" at sim coordinates X,Y,Z".

Then set aside one 16m2 area at those coordinates with autoreturn turned off, so they can give you their surrender note.

I feel your pain.

A neighbor suddenly rezzed 50 meter by 50 meter GLOWING mega prims around their property. Not around the whole thing - just mostly the part that borders to my own land. No explanation of course.

After squinting every time I turned toward that side of my property I felt forced to rez my own. Only, I tried to make them as inoffensive as possible. The texture is of the SL sky, they do not glow, and the sides and backs are transparent. I placed them in front of the neighbor's mega prim screens, to block the giant glowyness. But I'd love if neither were up.

Why do people at least not make the other side transparent, so no one else has to share their love of giant, flat pictures of greenery?

I'll never understand those flat screen things.

*As I said to someone else, though, I do agree that if it's to block sheer and utter fug - such as something on full bright that's pushed against your property line - then it's understandable.
