If you're like me and you like to create new folders to hold your items, this might be a help.

The inventory will sort your folders alphabetically. If you would like your custom folder to appear at the top, or near the top of your inventory, put a * before the folder name.

So I created a folder called Projects but is showed up at the bottom of my inventory. I rename it *Projects and wala, its at the top.

Does anyone have any other helpful suggestions?
It needed a question in it :p.

Something I do is have a "Shopping Bag" folder at the very top of my inventory list and then whenever I go on a shopping spree, whatever I buy goes in there until I'm done and have time to actually put everything in its proper place. It keeps the clutter down a lot :).

For clothing I guess it depends on personal preference of copy vs transfer.

A texture organizer can help a lot to keep textures all tidy (or uploaded pictures and snapshots) as well.

Concerning clothes....

I have made folder for special kinds of clothers.... like this:

- Asian wear
- Gorean wear
- Lingery and nightwear
- Normal wear
- Swim and beach wear

If the vendor has not added a snapshot of the set to it, I will add a snapshot myself.

To that I created a folder under my clother folder called "-=] Very good looking clothes [=-". In there I place copies of the snapshots of the set I reallty love. I add to the name of the snapshot where to look for it. Like this
"Purple sexy bikini [Beach and Swim wear]

A bit of work to maintain it all.... but with the big load of clothes I have, it is rewarding :P

I like to open two inventory windows side by side. It's much easier than trying to scroll between folders while dragging your item.

I think we have the same inventory philosophy! :)

I like to have everything listed by style, then broken down by type...and toss in a snapshot of the outfit to jog my memory if a snapshot wasn't included. It's so nice not to have to hunt down what I'm looking for and so worth the extra time it takes.

I try to purchase items with copy perms...especially shoes so I can make an outfit and have it ready to wear depending on my mood of the moment.

I didn't know you could do that - what an excellent idea!!

Both my alt and I are avid explorers with teh resultant plethora of landmarks .. sooo .. I have a *favs* folder with a shortlist of my top ten or so.
Clothes: tops, bottoms, sets, legs, jewellery :)

Mine is a complete mess. I will have to sort it out - it;s just the admin, plus I pick up anything that looks even vaguely interesting.

Hey look, a mouse that follows me about! Just what I always needed! Category: stuff.

WOW Cid.. Awesome!!!

I need to copy that and spend a day just moving everything around. I have it pretty well organized, but it needs to be organized even more.

I stash clothes I don't wear often in the attic.
Well, actually, I rez a box and shove all my old stuff that I can't get myself to chuck into it. I know it's there, available... and I also know I'll probably never open it again

My inventory looks a lot tidier after that :)

Ok, ok, I'll bite .... was this a wind up or is there a way of doing it Bree? I've just tried all combos of shift, ctrl and alt clicks and only one inventory?

Well Bilbo you open up your inventory folder and go to the 'file' menu in there and select 'new window'. It should open up a new inventory window.

EXCELLENT!!! Didn't know I could do that. Seems I've gotten a lot of the more complex thing down, but missed a lot of the basics. LOL

Can I just pull a complete Frasier Crane here and point out to the OP that the word is spelled "voila"?

My inventory is a rat's nest. Especially since in the current state of the system, every so often, the deepest sub-folders will be empty, seemingly at semi-random...
