We really need a clairification on the new gambling rules with regard to SL pot games such as bingo, slingo, tringo, pizza, greedy etc etc etc etc Also, does this affect things like the slingo solo-player

I'll repost what I said in another thread: If LL stays true to form asking for clarification is going to be akin to beating your head against a brick wall. They were stone silent on 'broadly offensive behavior', what makes you think this will be any different? However, i do agree with whoever said they may have bitten off more than they can chew this time..but I wouldnt expect a reversal of policy. More than likely this is going to rock the current economy to the core..and what remains (if anything) of the SL we know in the aftermath is anyone's guess right now.

Will we be allowed to continue using 'free-to-enter' raffle balls at events? They're a useful incentive to get people in as everyone loves a freebie.

if you pay, then it is not allowed. If you don't have to pay/buy anything, it is ok. How is this difficult to understand?

The way I read it this ruling outlaws the use of sploders in clubs too. Is this right? This issue is highlighting the different laws in different countries but I guess since LL is American, then their primary duty is to make sure that they themselves don't fall foul of US federal or state laws. Everything we do is SL is probably breaking some national law or local bylaw somewhere in the so-called 'real' world!!!! LOL

There is nothing wrong with paying to win, you just cant pay something that is based on chance or lloks like it belongs in a casino. From what i read it would completely fine for me to bet you $100L i can beat you in game of chess inside SL, because chess is a game of skill and a grandmaster will always beat a newbie. That in itself is a paradox, its completly fine for a newbie to lose bet against a player who is more skilled than them but in game of chance in which they would still have a chance against an experienced opponent thery are not allowed to bet.

That's not how I read it, if you pay in and there's a pay out then it's not allowed, but if you just pay in for the fun of getting the highest score, that's fine.

Hmm that would depend upon whether a game of chess in SL is considered a real life sporting event. As inworld gambling is considered real world gambling now, this is a bit of a tricky situation.

I just woke up to this (have fuzz brain) so please forgive if this has been mentioned already. But I'd like to point out that (if my fuzzy brain on the news is true) LL is simply passing on the bill as passed by the US Government. This edict does not come from LL alone. In fact, they use the bill's vague wording in their own which says to me that they won't clarify because they don't know how (and it's best not to). And finally, all this is going to do is run gambling further underground, SL included. LL's too busy to enforce something like this. Again, this policy is not their call. And if you really want to know what's included, create an alt, get a cheap piece of land. Put up gambling type "xyz", Abuse Report yourself and see what happens. And share the news with others. /me wanders off in search of wake up substances

I think by "real life sporting event" they mean betting on real actual sports events that go on in the real world (such as NFL or MLB games), not two users playing around in world.

I agree, I was playing devil's advocate. Anyway LL aren't going to know if two players had a little side bet and I doubt the feds would be interested.
