I rezzed an item the other day, and deleted it. The visual image is gone, but the ghost of it remains. I am running into it all the time just like it is still there. I have done everything I know to find/rid myself of it...nothing. Anyone esle ever had this problem, if so, how did you resolve it?

Thanks,

Asia

I believe its a by-product of the update the other day. From experience I think your sim will need a restart to get rid of the 'ghostly objects'. Could be wrong though, I'm sure someone will tell me if I am.

This seems to be happening alot lately. The only thing I have found that fixes it is a sim restart.

What is happening is that the asset server is deleting it from the database; but, fails to send a command to the Havok Physics Engine to ignore it. A sim restart clears the engine, an re-reads the database for that sim.

Someone refresh my mind: What is the correct procedure to request a sim restart? A bug report? "Region down" wouldn't be correct I presume, right?

Actually it's been happening frequently since the 1.16 update, but became widely known due to the asset server problems this week (the bug is triggered by an asset server glitch). Here is some info and the JIRA link if you wish to vote to have the underlying bug fixed.

The ghost prim / 0,0,0 bug uses up your prim allowance with invisible "selected/sat upon" items and causes permanent loss of no-copy items. Items may be visible at the region's 0,0,0 point, and non-phantom items can seem solid (though invisible) at the original location. In most cases a sim restart is required to remove the ghost prims, but there is no way to get no-copy items back.

If this has affected you, vote on JIRA to get it fixed:
https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-242

(The entry title specifies "copy" items, but this entry now applies to "no-copy" items too.)

A couple of things to bear in mind, the sim restart gets rid of the items, it doesn't mean the items will return to your inventory.

A sim restart doesn't prevent this from happening again.

Thanks, I was deleting the item anyway...so that is not a problem.
