In my quest for audio URLs I happened across a pretty easy way to find out these elusive URLs for enabling music in the parcel setting or in scripted devices. This thread is to share this quick and easy method and to ask how others have tackled this problem. This is what I do: 1) Go to http://www.shoutcast.com/directory/index.phtml 2) Find a station I want to listen to 3) Click on "Tune In" 4) A window pops up asking what to do with a file called "filename.pls" 5) Open that file with NOTEPAD.EXE (if using Windows) 6) Look for "File1=" inside the text. 7) Copy the URL right behind that (between "File1=" and "Title1=" Paste the copied URL in the land settings or wherever the scripted device needs it That's it. Takes 30 seconds this way. I'd also be interested in other methods of researching music URLs.

Another method is once you begin playing a stream in Winamp, you can click on File, then View File Info (version 5.5 for Windows). It tells you the stream URL at the top.

If you are on a Mac, go to Shoutcast and "tune in" a station. It will launch the station in iTunes. You will notice an itunes playlist document has downloaded to your desktop. Open the .pls document with TextEdit and you will see the radio station address that can be copied and pasted into your media settings.
