It's Sunday morning and I finally have time to experiment with sculptie prims. I downloaded wings3d but the linked tutorials from the official site are even too advanced for me. Totally lost!
Can anyone recommend a decent tutorial for complete newbs?

I don't know about a tutorial, but for doing sculpties in Wings here's a quick rundown:
1. Right-click in the empty scene and create a sphere with the right numbers (the numbers are listed in the exporter thread.)
2. Click the vertex button at the bottom of the screen, then click on a vertex to select it.
3. Right-click the vertex and choose Move. Drag your mouse around to move the vertex.
4. Click to finish moving, select another vertex, and move it.
5. Repeat 4 until shape is formed.
6. Export sculpty.

I can do step 1 ok, but trouble with step 2 is that the only thing at the bottom of my Wings3d screen is an information bar.
Do you mean the white pyramid with the red dots on the corners just above the drawing screen?
Thanks

sorry, didn't have Wings running while I wrote that so I mis-remembered the layout of the buttons. Yes, I do mean that icon.
As long as I have Wings open, I should clarify a couple points in the instructions. First off, when creating the sphere click the box next to the word Sphere and not the word itself. This is how you get the options for changing the number of sections.
Second, note that in Wings you use the Spacebar to de-select. Thus, before you can select a new vertex, first hit Space to de-select the vertex you just moved.
Oh, and you'll probably want to know the camera controls in Wings. The camera controls can be changed in preferences, but the default is to use the middle-mouse button for the camera.

There's a thread in the building forum that might be of some use: /8/20/183764/1.html

Hi Johan,
That was very helpful!
Took me a while to realize that L was not a key but the left mouse button!
I found the place to tell it I had a two buttoned mouse and it now very helpfully tells me to use ctl with R (right mouse button) to start moving the camera. I use that a lot!
It takes some tricky mouse move/presses to select move/free, is there a way to put that menu selection in a macro? I use that menu combo very frequently and it would make the system much faster if that were to be run from a keyboard macro.
Meanwhile I will press on. Magnificent program!

Making some kind of sculpty is easy to do using Wings3d and the exporter mentioned in the thread in the building forum.
The exporter, which has a download link in the thread mentioned above, just adds a sculpty option to a Wings menu, so using the exporter is a total no brainer.
Making a good sculpty is another matter. The cool methods of sculpting are forbidden. You have to move the vertexes "manually". It takes a lot of patience.

HaHaHa! I was subtly trying to help you nudge this question out of the 'Resident Answers' and over to the 'Building Forum'...there's a much more lively set of Sculptie helps over there! Now, what did I do with that URL?

Thanks for posting that. Not everyone seems to respond to every building or texture tab post or even has always time to read every single post every day. Now if only I could find where to download it. LOL By way Rokuro is really really easy to use
