When I want to contact an inworld liaison, I use the Help / Request Help menu option. I preface my message with "On Duty Liaison:" or "Linden Liaison:" or some such to let the volunteers know they don't need to respond and that I'm only looking for a response from a paid LL staff member.
Works pretty well for me.
I only do this if I want something done that can only be done by an employee. If I just have a question like "how do i get this box off my arm?" I just ask the question.
And I sometimes add a little assessment of how important my message is, if I ask a liaison for something that is not time critical I might put "low priority" in my message.

Thanks Ricky and SuezanneC. I don't know how people manage to survive SL without reading Resident Answers daily...

In Live Help you only really need to ask your question ( but please ask a clear consise and informative question - 'hi' isn't a question ), a volunteer may reply especially if it's busy if only to let you know someone is 'alive'. We'll quickly asses that a Liason is needed and ask you to wait till one become available. At busy times it may take some minutes for a Liason to become available so please leave an Live Help calls open until you get a response. Asking a question and closing the window also doesn't help.
