Newbie question

I'm having trouble with a scripted object I bought, and I need to send an IM to it's creator for help. The problem is the IM button only lets me IM friends, and I don't know how else to do it. How do you IM someone who isn't on your friends list?

Click on the profile button next to where you found the creator's name. At the bottom of the profile should be an "Instant Message" button.

First try clicking on the item in your inventory and selecting "properties". In the properties window you'll see the creator's name and you can open their profile.

If that doesn't work (sometimes doesn't) try rezzing the item on the ground. Click on it and open the "edit" window, then click the "more" button in the edit window. On the "general" page that opens up, you should be able to see the creator's name and open their profile that way.

Either open the object's properties and click on the creator's profile or use search -> people for the creator's name. In both cases the profile will come up, it has a button for you to click if you want to send an IM.
