Unless you are in a position to buy the land from around you (at more expensive than first land rates) then there is no real way to expand the lot you have.
You can sell the land, and buy a bigger lot somewhere else from someone who is selling it (not sure the technicalities of buying bigger lots direct from the Lindens, or if they are all held by players that you need to buy off)
Remember however that if you go above the 512m2 limit you have for 'free' you will have to begin to pay monthly tier fees in addition to your standard monthly premium membership rate.

I don't have problem paying for addition 5 plus the 9.99 a month. The frusteration is I was going to buy it and suddenly the person sold it to another person and said I could buy it from this other person. It just felt mean and cruel. Since I was going to build a garden not ugly property with bunch of large houses in this crowded neighborhood. At least they directed me to some land that I couldn't find in first place. I have met few nice people but truthfully majority there something not too nice about them. Then this person that they sold it to leave a box saying for me to contact her. Like she is too busy to write me, I have no way of even knowing how to im this person. I feel like these people basically wanted more money so they sold it to this other person be it a alt as way to get more Lindens out of me. If this is standard practice of residents of Second Life I probably won't continue my membership for long.

Sometimes SL is a lot like RL. Nothing you can do - the landowner can sell to anyone (in which case it's first come: first served), or to the named individual of his/her choice.
BTW, you won't just pay your premium subscription if you buy an additional 512m - you'll also pay $8 land tier each month (and that's US, not Linden LOL). Buy another 512m on top of that 1024 and your monthly tier will increase to $15. Check out the land page on this site.
In a nutshell, if you never hold more than 512m at a time you won't pay anything above your premium sub, and you can buy and sell as often as you like.

At this point truthfully I rather pay for landscaping help or someone to help me learn things when I am on then another property while I figure out things. I am sort of getting bit stressed out in my virtual life like I do in my real life when I want to create something and its just not happening right now.

Fact is, FD, SL is a micrcosm of eveything that is unpleasant about a free market economy. This is what RL would be like if the economy were not regulated by national governments. Unregulated commerce is as bad for mutually profitable trade as overregulated commerce, and now you're seeing it for yourself. The only way is to play the S.O.Bs at their own game and get mean yourself. It's an AV eat AV world out there. Of course, once you have some land you are satisfied with, you can shut the rest of the world out and be at peace, but to get to that stage I'm afraid a little underhandedness is neccessary.

Not necessarily true. There are many wonderful people in SL. It sound to me like FD ran afoul of something all to common in first land sims, The land sharks that prey on New players. What I would probably do is put my first land for sale (at a hefty profit). Then once that sold turn around and purchase a lot all in one piece of the size I wanted in a nicer sim. It will take some time and alot of popping around the grid looking for that perfect place to call home but in the long run it is worth it.

Well I did something I hadn't intended too. The other lot would have only worked if I had the two together to make waterfall. I did find something better but I am not going to buy more. I paid around 8k for both lots not sure I got good deal but it did come with flowers. The thing is now what to do with the lot. I would prefer personally to sell it to someone who doesn't have any land. Or maybe something better will come up with it so now I have 2 lots together and that other hillside lot that I got first land rights too. The problem is I am clueless now what to do. LOL I can't figure out how to open boxes of items. GRR

Just remember that if the land is on the same sim, you can combine the prim limits. Only buy more land oif your running out of prims, a lack of floor space just requires some creative thinking
