I run Microsoft Vista Home Premium on my Everex StepNote XT5300T laptop, and had installed Microsoft Silverlight ( http://silverlight.net/) as a shiny new visual experience for web browsing. However I began to run into problems immediately with Second Life, Mabinogi Fantasy Life, and Albatross 18. All 3D games began to act like I were running them on a system with an extremely low end video card. Second Life would start out fine, running at 10-18 FPS on the Everex's 8600m GS card, then within a minute slow to 1.0 FPS, Ping Sim would be fine running from 80ms to 150ms then skyrocket to 500-5000+ ms, packet loss would skyrocket, and eventually SL would crash. It took some time to pinpoint the problem, but after uninstalling Microsoft Silverlight Second Life, Mabinogi, and Albatross 18 began to run again as expected. So as a recommendation to Second Life residents, do not install Microsoft Silverlight until Microsoft has worked out problems with Silverlight and gaming applications. If you have it installed and everything is running fine leave it alone.

That's strange, Ihave Silverlight installed, too, and don't have any probs-NVidia 8600M GS, and usually an FPS of 20-35. I wonder if I'll get more if I uninstall it? Have you tried running SL without the fancy visual options of Vista? (right click the desktop link to SL and check the options there)

Perhaps a Jira would be in order, in addition to or instead of a sticky in RA?

This doesn't seem to need to be stickied.
