Long as we're down why not implement the changes to be made Wednesday today especially in light of the fact the planned upgrades will have enhanced security features. It's a thought ;)

I'm not sure what this has to do with anything. It's almost like blaming a woman for wearing too little clothing for her being raped.

What I was doing was suggesting a potential for the Lindens to investigate. If I were Phil it's what I'd do ;) I'd be implementing the upgrade scheduled for Wednesday today. Heck why not... we're down, let's get it fixed while we're down then come back up and Second Life the night away! WOOT!

Sounds like a plan to me. Might as well.

LOL!

IDK I had to post it cause it sounded like the perfect opportunity cause once they bring up the grid it should take approximately 5.6 seconds before it's attacked again by some a$$hat. So instead of being down today AND Wed... just make it all day today with the fixes and newness and wonderfulness and joyousness and stuffishness. Bring back the ness basically. And as I'm typing I think it's back up, LMAO so uh mk then...

I know the software development process pretty well. If the schedule is set for Wednesday, it is very unlikely to be met before then, but hopefully won't be pushed BEYOND then. You can just about put money on the fact that they have not halted development and bug fixing until this release has been deployed. They aren't just sitting idle and twiddling their thumbs until the release date comes; they are working their asses off to squeeze a few more bugfixes and/or some thorough testing in before the deadline.

That is what gets me about people demanding releases be as far apart as possible. If you want good quality and less downtime it should actually be the opposite: the fewer and the smaller the incremental changes between releases, the fewer problems there are going to be and the easier it will be to fix them. I think we are starting to see problems on this biweekly release schedule already; TWICE already they have had to push out the release because they have found problems. Before that it seemed--at least to me--that they were able to actually roll out updates on a decenly regular basis. The further the releases are apart and the more times they get pushed off, the more content is being piled into each one.

LL should go back to the weekly updates they were already accustomed to without question in my opinion.

Think of the Europeans who are slighted by the outages during their Wednesdays though! Ignoring the fact that it's the middle of the day for Linden Labs and pretty much the rest of North America, and everyone unemployed and/or living off their parents is slighted too. Surely they can't expect LL employees to do updates in the middle of the night so that the Europeans can get away without apparent downtime.
