At the top of the screen, go to View...then Camera Controls.

Hope that's what you're looking for.

yup, that'd do it. but is there a way to simply bind it to the mouse? like mouselook mode, but in third person

Not that I'm aware of. I'm not saying it can't be done....I'm just saying if it can be done...I don't know how.

Possibly with one of those programs that allow you to save macros to the mouse.

If you hold down the left mouse button on your avatar (has to be the avatar itself, not a part covered by an attachment), you'll have movement very much like mouselook but still with the camera behind you. Does that do what you want? (Grabbing an attachment may work too if it doesn't respond to touches)

the question i asked is if there's a way to do it without clicking your avatar. it's in the title.
i have a mod for third person camera with the view of first person, but rotating the camera via clicking avatar is impossible

Holding is not clicking. If you want help, you should learn to phrase your questions so that they convey what you mean.

Well if you are going to use a modified client, why don't you simply rewrite the mouselook code to do what you want?

You are aware of alt-arrow and ctrl-alt-arrow movement, right?

Heh. Much the same question just came up in Scripting Tips. But I'm guessing that the "mod" wasn't a modified client, just a scripted third-person cam (with pseudo-first-person sorta the opposite effect as a "driving cam";). There may indeed be utility to a mod'd viewer for someone brave enough to tackle the tangle of whackiness that is the client cam code. To that intrepid soul, bonne chance.

If you use the rotate buttons on the Camera Controls you don't have to click your avatar.

You can use an alt to cam to your avatar.

ctrl+alt allows you to click on ANYTHING to move your camera (not just yourself like without them). Or did you not want to cliekon anything at all? Then you have to use the buttons I guess...

yea, but alt or ctrl+alt rotates around whatever object is seleted, NOT your character. that makes it useless for character movement.

and yes, it's a thrid person, first person script thing. "mod" was a poor choice of wording
